There is nothing not to like. I would only say that it's a bit outside of the main centre in Ao Nang (which was perfect for us). The facilities are great and clean! Yes, the front facing rooms get hit by the traffic noise and dog barking when the mosque starts at 5am. Easily avoided if you ask for a room facing the back. Definitely worth a visit!

Baan Thara Guesthouse is a great place to stay in Ao Nang if you like to be outside of the hustle and bustle a bit. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They helped us with transport to Koh Lanta, gave us free cold water nearly daily and even brought home a fruit basket for us.

Had to get grabs to and from

We had such a lovely stay here. The staff are very friendly (especially the man) and everything felt extremely home like. We did some washing which was done within 6 hours which was very convenient. Room is exactly as described very clean and tidy. The towels smelt amazing too. As it is low season there was not many people about and I think the hotel was very quiet. It’s a little out the way via walking but grabs were extremely cheap and took less than 5 minutes. Alternatively you could walk to the beach in 10/15 minutes and the tourist area in around 20 mins but you have to walk down a busy main road.

If you are a light sleeper, the muezzin's call to prayer can wake you up at 5 a.m. and all the wild dogs around you will join in with their barking. The guesthouse is not to blame about it. Earplugs can help.

The room was as described, perhaps even larger than I expected. It had a refrigerator, air conditioning, a kettle, and even a safe for valuables. The staff was always super friendly and eager to accommodate my needs. I was also able to rent a scooter for a whole month. The beach is only about 700 meters away. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you for everything!

Nothing, everything was amazing!

The room was really clean, comfortable, bug, bright and accessorized. The owners were the most welcoming and smiley people we met and they were so kind to give us also the bike to reach the city centre, not so far away from the accommodation.

Some rooms face the main road so if traffic noise is a concern probably message them asking for one that doesn’t face this way.

The staff were really lovely and chill. The rooms are basic but clean and large with good lighting. There are loads of authentic and cheap Thai restaurants within walking distance. So much better than the touristy ones in Ao Nang centre. Definitely worth staying out here if you want somewhere away from the main tourists but still only a couple of min to the beach by scooter.

From start to finish the owner goes out of his way to make it your best stay yet! Such nice staff that are super attentive. The breakfast was simple but great. The rooms were very spacious. The location is super convenient. They even offer moto rental for amazing prices per day. Would come back any day!!!

The staff and the guesthouse's services made our stay memorable and our trip easier! From moto rental to breakfast, laundry service, shuttles and advice on moving around. The room is spacious and the neighbourhood filled with local delicious food. Special thanks to Lek, for helping us navigate the province with a big smile and a kind heart. bit far off from the center of ao nang but fine if you're okay with walking a bit- we were! the staff were so lovely and accommodating, laundry service very quick and efficient. while we were waiting for our taxi transfer, the owner gave us a fruit platter as a little breakfast, and showed me how to use the coffee machine- very kind and helpful🥰🥰

A little bit too far away from the action for us

The bedding was sooo clean & fresh, the bed was very comfortable. Good size room, good bathroom with a shower curtain. 15 minute walk to a quiet beach, 25 minute walk to Ao Nang Landmark night market, which was very good. There is a 7-eleven a couple of minutes away along with a couple of restaurant's

The staff are incredibly nice people 😊 They will help you with whatever you need. The only negative is that it is rather dar from the centre if you do not rent a scooter and it is rather noisy at night.

This is a gem of a find. Large spacious room, plenty of storage and large and powerful shower. Air con was amazing. Location wise, 10 minute walk to the beach and 15 to the night market although plenty of food places and shops on the door step. Would definitely recommend staying here. I would happily have paid more than I did for our 4 nights.

At night it can get a bit noisy as it is close to a road

Great value for money. The owners are super friendly and will help with whatever you need. Rent a motorbike, book tours, book minivans. The rooms are clean and serve their purpose.

We had a room facing the road, which gets a lot of traffic. It did not bother us but might not be ideal for a light sleeper.

Excellent value! The room was very spacious and clean; the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple and included fresh fruit and yogurt. Proprietor facilitate scooter rental, and there were plenty eateries and a convenience store in walking distance. We appreciated the cloth drying rack in the room.

The hotel is a bit far away from the main beach. Fortunately, you can take two bicycles for free.

Guesthouse is a little too far to walk to Ao Nang so you must use taxi and Grab to get around - around 150 to 200 THB each way so not expensive.

A simple breakfast was provided which was a perfect start to the day. Lek, the owner, was so helpful. We booked a tour through him and used him to book taxis down to Ao Nang beach. The rooms were massive and no noise overnight. Rooms were kept clean each day plus Lek let us use separate towels for trips to the beach or tours. When we checked in Lek set up an extra single bed in one room as all twin rooms were already taken. Again - he was always on hand to help us.
