How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAMAZING! on arriving the staff welcomed us and showed us around the whole place, which had plenty of communal seating, a HUGE kitchen with a microwave, fridge, filtered and boiled water, and free snacks! the room was incredible, plenty of storage a huge bed and incredible windows. on the top floor was a washing machine and a washing line on the rooftop terrace. how this place wasn’t fully booked (there was us and 2 other guests staying) is beyond us, it was absolutely beautiful, one of our favourite places. the location was right next to the night market and a 7/11! could hear the night market however it wasn’t super loud and they stopped around 10/11pm. would 1000% recommend!
everything was perfect!!

Verified reviewCutest hostel ever! The lady running it is sooo lovely and friendly! She made me feel very welcome. There’s lovely decorations everywhere. I was welcomed to a bed with coloured bed sheets and a pattened pillow case (which reminded me of home, and was a nice change from all the white bedded hostels) and a face mask on my pillow. The hostel is right next to the bus station which is super convenient. Hotel staff were so friendly. There’s a fridge and microwave and some free coffee
Nothing!

Verified reviewThis has to be one of the best hostels I've stayed in anywhere in the world. 1 / It's super convenient, right outside the bus station (great for people coming from Chiang Mai), literally a minute's walk 2 / Also happens to be where the night market is, so you have lots of options for food 3 / The staff is incredible. Fon and her team are the absolute friendliest in the most genuine way. Happy to chat, helpful with information, Fon even arranged the slow boat trip to Laos for me. Really above and beyond and it's so nice to meet people in the hostel industry who are honestly cheerful and kind-hearted :) 4 / The hostel itself is immaculate. Cleaned to perfection daily, both the rooms and the common areas. It's as it looks in the photos. AC runs all day in the rooms! Good size lockers, do your own laundry, etc etc. I almost feel bad that the hostel isn't super famous yet or isnt located in a more famous part of Thailand, as almost no one else was staying in the hostel when I was there, but I was happy to have the place to myself :) Busket Team if you're reading this, thank you guys again for everything! Keep up the great work and see you again in the future hopefully! - @atlasxciv

Verified reviewEverything was great! The hostel is right next to the bus station, it’s really convenient. The host was super nice and smiling. The hostel have great equipements, shower and toilets separated (depending on the floor). Beds are really hard but this is how I like it. You also have snacks at your disposal.
Hallways and bathroom are super hot but I guess it’s like every hostel

Verified reviewWe’re a family of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids, ages 5 and 6) and booked 2 rooms at this property — one through another site. The only good thing about this hotel is its location: it’s close to the night market and bus station, which is convenient. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The air conditioning didn’t work in both rooms — and if you’ve ever been to Chiang Rai in April, you know how unbearably hot it can get. The beds were old and uncomfortable, and the linens and towels looked extremely worn out. On the bright side, the lady at the front desk was kind and helpful. She gave us great local tips and recommended some nice places to visit. Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again unless the property makes some serious upgrades.
Hello Suzara, Thank you for your review. First of all, you booked us only 1 room for 5 people (the room can only fit 2 people). We was shocked on your arrival. So we offered you the four bunk bed room on your arrival (without charging the extra charges for another additional person) You refused as it is cost more than the private room. During the check in, unfortunately we found out that one of our private room air conditioner does not work very well. We offered to uprade your room to four bunk bed room (in which we understand it is fair enough for our guests). Our four bunk bed room air conditioner works perfectly and our reception did asked you many times of how things is going and you replied everything is alright. Suzara, our small hostel works very hard to offer beyond expectation experiences to all our guests and try every possible ways to accomplish it. Therefore, if you are not alright with anything please let us know so we can manage it promptly during your stay. Again thank you for your review. The air condition in one of our private room has been fixed by the professional on the next day and it runs perfectly fine. We hope to welcome you and your family again in the near future. ❤️🙏😀 Fon
