Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaThe building is not so impressive but it’s clean. Although the room and toilet is clean, however may consider to repaint the room.
Strategic location and all old town’s attractions are within walking distance. Great value of money for budget travellers. Adequate facilities and don’t expect more with the price you are paying. The room and toiler is clean.

SwedenA wish would have been a little reading lamp since the big lamp was so strong. There was a little button next to my bed, so Maybe there was one hidden in the interiors just that it didn’t work (?)
It was simple and clean, big window and strong lamp in the ceiling. I had a really nice visit. Not much staff around, but easy to reach on phone. Comphy beds.

BangladeshI liked everything, can't expect more at this price.
Great value for money. Very quiet street but a short walk away from some of the more happening spots. I loved the local charm of the neighbourhood.

CanadaThe air conditioning units are not large enough for these rooms. They help take the edge off, but was still unable to cool the room to a fully comfortable temperature for sleeping. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of.
The room itself was quite spacious and beds for comfortable. I liked that the room had a fridge, to keep a few items in. The shower was nice (actually had a shower curtain; which we have come to realize is a luxury) and the unit was very well located in the heart of old town, making it easy to get around on foot or by taxi.

Hong KongThere is a bit of drippings of water on the first step of the staircase. Seems like it’s coming from the ceiling but they manage to put towel/carpet so guests can be aware of it.
it is not brand new condition but it has this vintage rural charm. You can experience Thai living. Large windows allow alot of natural light giving it an airy and comfy vibes. Price is very affordable. Simple and basic but very pleasing aesthetically. You can heat up food on microwave. There is a fridge in the room and also an electric kettle you can access on common areas. Coffee shop in the property so its’s amazing!

Thailandoverall it is very lovely, they only thing is that if there is another door lock to the room, it will feel more safe. as the door is a bit old.
it is very close to all the tourist attraction in the Chiang Mai old town, so it is very convenient to go around. also, the area is very quiet , so it is very relaxing. Bonus point is for the coffee shop at the guesthouse! it is very cute and coffee is good!

CanadaAbsolutely everything there was nothing right about the property was filthy and maintained and looked nothing like the pictures of the rooms
There was absolutely nothing to like about the property. It was disgusting. It was not as listed. When I arrived, there was dirty laundry thrown all over the dirty hallways. The staff could not understand me when I spoke. It seems like I was an annoyance. there were lots of people standing around, looking very angry. I saw the inside of the room was dirty. I walked out.

BangladeshSome of the toilet fixtures are a little dated and could use an upgrade.
It’s an excellent location. Super quiet, but within walking distance of loads of great cafes and restaurants. On Sundays, the Sunday walking street is a two minute walk away. But somehow the place is still always quiet! This is my second time staying here. I’ve been visiting Chiang Mai for years and I love staying here.

New ZealandThere's no staff there. When someone appears, just ignore you. When I arrived, there was no toilet paper. When asked, he gave me one used on his table. Besides, in the next days, there was no water for some hours. I spent a lot of time solving stupidities instead of visiting the city.

United StatesVery difficult to find esp at night down a dark alley and hidden behind a defunct bakery. No lights on for self check in, no staff no reception. Rather confusing procedure. No housekeeping. Only time you see staff is when they come at night to prepa room for the next bewildered guest. Had same towel and bedding for a week.
Location was inside the old city. Easy walking distance to the major sites.

As a first time traveller in Chiang Mai, I found that I love this city and this hotel. The good points of this place are price, location, and staff members. Not only this place has a reasonable price with a comfy room, located in a center of the city where weekend market is just few meters away, the staff members here is more than helpful and friendly.

GermanyThere was no cleaning during our stay, even though it says daily cleaning on Booking.com and there were a lot of tiny insects/ants. We didn't even get toilet paper refilled or a towel change. There is no real reception, you need to go into the cafe attached. However the staff working for the hotel don't really speak English so asking for stuff was a bit difficult If you want to book tours or something you need to go somewhere else (we booked some at the next hotel). The mosquito nets on the windows had holes and one toilet seat was loose. The walls are a bit dirty, the beds uncomfortable but at least the aircon works. All in all it doesn't match the pictures or the description.
Good location
