Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyHowever, the room and the locker area is EXTREMELY dark and its so hard, me and other travellers need to use our phone to have the light shine through to see inside lockers. I feel that it is very illogical to be that dark and lack of light and I won't stay there again. It's fairly dark during the daytime and it's even more dark and hard to see things when the sun goes down. Crazy huh?
The staffs are lovely and friendly

United KingdomDefinitely could’ve been cleaner. The rooms and beds themselves were clean but the bathrooms (especially the showers) were not great. There were cleaners cleaning the bathrooms when I was there but I’m not sure how thorough they were being!
Super central location, was a bit worried about the noise from the street but in the dorms you hardly hear anything. Beds were comfy and private, and a nice roof top area for chilling.

AustraliaThe bed had what seemed to be old blood stains on it towards the bottom and the bathroom looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. There was a really strong smell of some sort of perfumed spray that made it difficult to breath, the room was very small although this wouldn’t of been an issue if the rest was good
The location was great and the staff were very friendly, aircon was strong :)

AustraliaNothing to dislike, by far the best hostel in the area.
Dorms were excellent, very comfortable with good privacy. Also stayed in a private room which was average, dorms were far better value for money.

United KingdomThe area is very busy and the hostel is directly opposite various loud bars. The rooms themselves were pretty quiet but you're definitely right in the thick of it so great if that's what you're looking for? Less so if not.
Really well designed rooms / bed layout etc. It's amazing how many people you can squeeze into one room with a bit of clever design? Really solid bunks with nice privacy blinds.

United KingdomGood location if you want to be right in the centre of the touristy area but for me was a horrible location - very loud at night with embarrassingly English music and pub crawl. You are not allowed bags in the room and so difficult to sort out your stuff in your bag if you are a backpacker.
The showers were good and liked the rooftop area for chilling. Friendly staff.

United StatesThe pictures they use give the impression that this might be a good place to stay if you are a digital nomad needing to get work done. It's not that. There aren't places that are pleasant to work here, most people here are just partying, and there's a very loud venue across the street that doesn't calm down at night until 2am
The beds are reasonably comfortable. The staff are nice enough. The location is convenient for getting to the beach.

United KingdomLocation is great, very central and close to everything (Sairee beach, shops, food etc) but that comes with a little price of it being noisy at night from people on the street and bars.
Everything was really great - staff are nice, I felt safe and comfortable, room was clean. You can ask staff to sort out laundry for you as well. The restaurant under the hostel (indie cafe) is underrated - the Burmese curries are so good!

IrelandThe dorm I was in was quite small and you can’t bring your bag in which was inconvenient, especially being on a top bunk. The floors were dirty and you couldn’t wear your shoes in so the bed got sandy from the beach

GermanyThe cleanliness of our room was mediocre (e.g. spots on our linen and bad smell coming from the drain. Due to surrounding bars it got really loud at night even past 11 pm.
The location was great: close to the beach and to several stores, restaurants and bars. Our private room was well equipped and provided everything we needed. The rooftop space was nice to relax and enjoy the view!

United KingdomIt’s on a busy street near a few clubs/bars so you can hear thumping music until the early hours. Not an issue if you want to be out partying but not great if you want a good night sleep.

GermanyThere are bars behind and in front of the hostel. So be prepared for it to be very loud at night. The sheets and bathroom could have been cleaner. The light fixtures were lose.
Had a small single room with bathroom. It’s small but enough for one person that needs a little privacy but still want the benefits of a hostel. Very central, lots of bars, restaurants, dive school, and the beach within 1 minute walk.

United KingdomThe area is pretty lively (a mini Khao San Road!?) so great if you want to in the thick of it but not so much if you want a chilled peaceful space. That said, the rooms are pretty quiet once the door’s closed… All in all, a solid, fun hostel for the younger traveller.
The rooms / bunks are a great design. You feel really cocooned-in when you’re in bed. There are charging points and cubby holes for sleeping things. Bags are stored in lockers outside the room. The roof terrace is pretty cool, and / but overlooks a busy street with boisterous bars. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Not great if you’re looking for an early sleep, also the single person room is on the first floor so all the party goers in the dorms have to walk past your room, can be a bit disruptive
