How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Quite expensive for what it was. Room was clean but dated, in need of a repaint. Shower and sink leaked a bit. Good location and friendly staff.

The only things negative about the place would be that it remains in a busy street, so if you’re a light sleeper, you might find it hard to fall asleep. Also, there’s no ensuite bathroom, but we didn’t find it that annoying, it wasn’t an issue for us.
I’ve left a bad review for the same hostel, but a completely different room. Here, the room was really nice. The bed was comfortable and big (queen bed). We had a mirror, had space to store our clothes, etc. The room was clean, they would change our towels and give us new bottles of water every time they come for the cleaning. It was a big upgrade from our previous room.

My room was literally next to a nightclub and every night around 10pm the music from the show in the club is played at a blaring volume, considering that there were a lot of people who were taking diving courses and needed to rest to get up early, this place is definitely not the right one. On the other hand, in my room, there were at least 14 people. In none of the 4 days I was there did they do a basic cleaning service in the bathroom. No one in the room was really messy, but 14 people using a bathroom at some point needs a refresh. The toilet was full of shit for at least the last 2 days. There was no toilet brush either, so we guests couldn't do much either. Is the most expensive hostel I have paid for in this trip and the worst and also you have to give 1000 bath for key deposit . not worthy

The pool looked lovely but zero sunbeds and was out of use during our stay this was not highlighted at at the time of booking or upon arrival. The hotel bar plays very loud music untill 2am every night. There are no visable rules in place or enforcement in terms of guests. With already 10 in our room guests were bringing girls into there beds for noisy sex and no being reprimanded. Some guests were very respectful others very noisy.
Location. Cleanliness. Price ok for an expensive island. Shared Bathroom was good. We were lucky we got the best room with the mattresses and curtains above the main reception. Ask for this room as the room and bathroom are far superior to anything else on site.

it sounds funny, but the towels actually didn't dry you, which was a bit annoying after a couple of days... neighbours were extremely loud in their room until very early in the morning, but in a hostel in this location also kind of expected. no plugs next to the bed.
location was great, beach, shops, restaurants, all within 1' walking distance, even though quite loud during the night, but that was expected, being located right next to beach clubs. staff was really nice and helpful!

it was VERY loud at night time, electricity went a couple of times, the beds were fairly uncomfortable

Wasn’t social at all. There is no common area to meat other solo travelers. There were many problems with reception, they are not organised and are slow
The location was amazing! Super close to the beach and the lotus bar and where all the bars and shops are. Had everything around in a walking distance

We booked for an 8 person bed room but there was 14 people in our room. The beds were extremely hard, worse than any other hostel we have stayed in.

Noise at night from bars etc but this is still not bad and for the money you pay for this place, you can’t moan!
Great value for money, great location, close to everything! Beds were really comfy, room was clean. Would recommend if you’re looking for a nice but affordable place to stay in Koh Tao

No curtains on beds, room window faced an alleyway with no curtains, loud music till early in the morning from beach club (but understandable with location)
Comfortable mattresses. I was in a female room of 4 which was spacious. Only there for one night so not much to say about the property except it’s old and still being worked on but it’s a great location.

No towels, bedsheets, bedquilts or toiletpaper. Bathroom door could not be closed or locked. AC was not functional, luckily the ceeling fan was.
