Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryDue the rough sea paddle boarding and kayaking is not possible [or very limited] at this part of island. [Right now, from Oct/Nov sure better They should do some maintance work around the pools
We were 3 years ago here and now again. In the green saison pretty relaxed. Poolvilla is nice, worth the money [at least now]. Breakfast: many western/european food choices. The beef stew, banana bread and brownie were great! The whole resort / hotel is pleasent andbeautiful green.

NorwayWe had a bit of trouble getting the shower to a decent temperature. It was either cold or very hot. I read several reviews and can't quite understand the criticism, at least when it came to "The Pool Villa". I can't comment on other room types.
I realy loved it. The pool villa was very nice. The service when we needed it was good and quick. as I have a bad back, the bed was the best I experienced in a month of traveling around Thailand. The hotel is perhaps a bit worn, but it wasn't something I really cared about, maybe it had something to do with the fact that I had a great room and was there most of the time. When I return to Koh Chang, this will be the only option for me.

AustraliaI accidentally booked and so did my agent Unfortunately I couldn’t get a refund as my booking didn’t allow for it so we had a whole room next door we didn’t use and I think that spoilt the stay for me but it was my own fault We came home one night and just missed the fire show and we wished we knew it was one maybe a poster at breakfast would have been handy or maybe I missed it The lobby design is gorgeous

United KingdomBeach Ok, but not as good as many in Koh Chang. Sea too shallow to swim at low tide.
Room very comfortable. Excellent swimming pool. Great breakfast. Have stayed here on a number of occasions and would certainly come back again.

United KingdomHad to wait 2 hours to check in and the reception was open so was stifling in the heat.
Beautiful location towards the bottom of this stunning island. Amazing pool and private beach. We had a delux sea front room and it was large, comfortable and had magnificent views. Beach bar and starbucks a bonus.

AustraliaThe staff made zero attempt to help me find a scooter. The resort isn't near the main village and after walking for over an hour, up and down huge hills, asking other resorts and random shops, I finally found one. I have been travelling for months and every accommodation I have stayed in has either hired me a bike, or searched for one for me. One even hired me one from there staff. The staff at the Mercure were lovely, but made absolutely no attempt to help find me a scooter or put me in contact with someone who could. Very disappointing for such a large so-called luxury chain.
Facilities, cleanliness, private beach, staff were nice (see caveat in the "not like")

ThailandThe air conditioning cannot be adjusted, and the chairs on the balcony are old and almost broken. It’s fine if you stay in the hotel, but getting to the city requires a long drive, and the journey is quite dangerous.
The hotel is generally quite good, the staff are friendly, and the food is fairly decent.

AustraliaThe beach and swimming area is not nice compared to the rest of the island. It's a man made beach with slimy concrete shelf into the water. The whole resort feels man made.
Room was large, bathroom very nice. Breakfast was good. This is definitely a 'resort' rather than the boutique hotels that make up the rest of Koh Chang. The value for the room and facilities is excellent. The restaurant at the end of the beach is great, and the local bars in town are fun (we had teenagers with us!)

SwedenWe were there for the whole week, they make up the room every day. But didn’t change the bedsheets at all. Need to asking for changing of pool towels every time. Many of the staff are very service minded, but many are not. If there was 5staff at the same place, is totally hard to get eye contact with some of them to get help. But many came to help you very fast and helpful.
Very nice place nearly the beach and many of the staff are very nice.

SwitzerlandThe price for food (breakfast/lunch/dinner) were too high so we didn't eat at the hotel. Toilet outside as well in the rooms could use some renovations and also the entry way should be looked at as the grates weren't holding in their place while driving over them with the car.
The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Whenever we met anybody on the hotel grounds they smiled and greeted us. The room had a good view from the balcony. There's a Starbucks on the hotel grounds and the beach was being kept clean. They informed us on a regular basis if there were private functions happening which could cause noises (usually from 6pm-10pm). We even received a small Christmas gift. Overall a very pleasant stay!

ThailandThere was not enough stretch of beach and it was quite rocky. The rooms are a bit dated, and can use some small touch ups. There were no small amenities, such as, cotton pads or cotton buds present, I guess we'd have to request them. The food menus are limited, which makes it hard to find food because the surrounding area of the hotel is nothing interesting at all, hence the name "Hideaway" The breakfast buffet, though has a good variety, are heavily salted. On some items, they were unbearable.
The view from my seaview room was nice. There were kayaks and SUPs for rent at a fair price. The price of food and drinks in the hotel outlets was fair, and good portions. The breakfast buffet has a good variety.

United KingdomI think the beaches everywhere else on the island are a lot better than the beach here, it’s man made and the water is a bit green. A beach 5 mins down the road (lonely beach) is clear waters and gorgeous sand. Breakfast could be better.
The location is great, we tend to go out most days on our moped so for a comfy room to stay and go and visit other places it was perfect
