How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We booked a pool villa that claimed to sleep four people and when we arrived there was only one double bed. They made us pay for an extra bed for our son which was an unexpected added expense. The location isn’t great either, you definitely need a car if you stay there. Pool also wasn’t so clean, leaving us feeling slimy when using which wasn’t great.

Its in need of an upgrade but i believe thats happening soon, it needed some attention in the bathroom and wardrobe was looking a quite worn. The air-conditioning wasnt working correctly but they supplied a big fan. Air con in the gym was poor

Verified reviewStaff tried hard to please - but seemed a little sad, morale seemed low. Food was quite good, especially Thai dishes. Breakfast so so and same each day - no cheese for omelette! Room service was good and quick and reasonably priced Room big and generally comfortable (but dated) Very quiet resort if that's what you are looking for
Needs a facelift/upgrade, very old facilities and feels run down - expected better standard from a Mercure (4-star brand?), will not book them again. Sun beds on the beach seriously damaged and not repaired No service around the pool or on the beach - have to find staff at bar counters Very isolated nothing nearby - 3K drive to nearest 7 11 - dangerous to walk the roads. Not really suitable to swim in the sea, shallow and lots of rocks

Verified reviewWe were 3 years ago here and now again. In the green saison pretty relaxed. Poolvilla is nice, worth the money [at least now]. Breakfast: many western/european food choices. The beef stew, banana bread and brownie were great! The whole resort / hotel is pleasent andbeautiful green.
Due the rough sea paddle boarding and kayaking is not possible [or very limited] at this part of island. [Right now, from Oct/Nov sure better They should do some maintance work around the pools

Verified reviewWe had booked 4 nights, nonrefundable with our 4 year old child. On arrival we were informed about a big group having a celebration with a heads up it could give a little bit noise pollution. After checking into the room we smelt a odor of mold. As hotel was sold out, reception was not able to do anything about this at that moment. The next day there would be options. The hotel room did not meet the standard of Mercure hotels. Through the mattress you could feel the spiral. Besides that there were all kinds of dirty spots on the sheets. With the noise (far from being 'little' and this terrible mattresses our child could barely sleep that first night. You could feel the coil through the mattress. We complained about this with the reception. Meanwhile we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. With 100+ guest the was only 1 stafmember clearing dirty tables and 2 'chefs' preparing 1 egg each at a time. After the attempts to get an 8 minute boiled egg, I gave up. On both times even the egg white was still partly liquid. Trays of food were practically empty and were hardly replenished. After putting our second complain with the manager she asked for a change to solve the problems.The manager indicated that it was not our problem but because of the low season a few staff members were send home. An attempt was made to improve sleeping comfort by placing a topper on the mattress, which did not help. The second night our child and us again had a worse sleep. The second day there was no improvement at breakfast. As a final solution the manager wanted to upgrade us to another room. Which we declined. After two miserable nights and the bad experiences at breakfast in the hotel we no longer had confidence in an acceptable solution. We would not let our holiday be ruined by this mismanagement of the Mercure staff. We checked out two nights earlier than booked in advance. With more than 80 euro per night in low season you may expect more than this rubbish.

Verified reviewI realy loved it. The pool villa was very nice. The service when we needed it was good and quick. as I have a bad back, the bed was the best I experienced in a month of traveling around Thailand. The hotel is perhaps a bit worn, but it wasn't something I really cared about, maybe it had something to do with the fact that I had a great room and was there most of the time. When I return to Koh Chang, this will be the only option for me.
We had a bit of trouble getting the shower to a decent temperature. It was either cold or very hot. I read several reviews and can't quite understand the criticism, at least when it came to "The Pool Villa". I can't comment on other room types.

Beach Ok, but not as good as many in Koh Chang. Sea too shallow to swim at low tide.
