Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaAbsolute paradise. Warm clear water, 15+m vis, Japanese Garden and other snorkeling sites at your doorstep, white sandy beaches and authentic Thai cuisine and hospitality from start to finish. The staff went out of their way to ensure a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended - we would definitely return

South AfricaYou can feel isolated if you are looking for a night life - breakfast was average
It’s really a novel idea to stay on an island - I recommend for at least 2-3 nights to make full use of your experience. Thai restaurant was amazing and the food was wonderful.

United KingdomIt took us a while to realise most of the staff are Burmese so if using Google translate to communicate Myanmar was the best language to use. The western style restaurant was nearly opened and was a little slow and disorganised. The WiFi was poor and often just wouldn’t work, so if travelling with WiFi-dependent teenagers you may need a backup eSIM for data.
We stayed as a family of 5 for nearly a week and had such a fantastic time. We stayed in August and there were a few storms but it didn’t spoil anything. We had beautiful times on a white beach and turquoise waters. Everything is very clean and the rooms have AC with spectacular views. You can borrow snorkels and masks from reception free of charge. The coral is beautiful and not spoiled. The water was 30 degrees, and we snorkelled so much and saw many beautiful fish. In the evenings the black tip sharks come into the bay and we swam and snorkelled with them. I did some diving arranged whilst there with Duck n Dive and had a great time. We were welcomed off the boat and staff were very accommodating. There is free drinking water in glass bottles for the whole stay. Housekeeping comes daily. You can put things on a tab and pay at the end. In the Thai restaurant the staff were incredibly helpful and warm, and the food was nice but simple. Thank you for an amazing stay.

I don't understand how this place could have any negative reviews. It was amazing!! Literally like having a private island to yourself. We stayed in low season, and only a handful of people were on the island. We got to hike to the peak for sunrise, enjoy a thunderstorm from our balcony, snorkel before the day trippers came and enjoy two lovely dinners in the evening. All the food from the restaurant was really nice (we had salmon, steak, chicken, pasta, plus breakfast). Prices are similar to restaurants in Koh Tao. Cocktails were nice, amazing view! The beach bar has all Thai food and closes earlier. The boat over and back was well organised by the resort. You just line up your ferry so you arrive for their pick-up time. Most of the staff didn't have much English but that was okay. Overall so relaxing and an amazing experience!

IrelandOk, you need to be brave and able for the night life - we're talking mosquitos, cockroaches, gecko's, termites and the incredible ' mountain crabs'. These were a serious challenge, the other name for the crabs is Zombie crabs.
The tourist boats and divers leave at 3:30pm and don't return until 10:00am the next morning. During this time the island is YOURS. The snorkeling along the reef is YOURS, saw trigger fish, parrot fish and reef sharks (early in the morning) The customer service was second to none. Just be ready for steps - lots of them For a truly incredible experience this is the one.

PortugalThe hotel is embedded in the mount so you need to go up several stairs to go to the room, but it’s feasible and the view is totally worth it. The beach bar is not great and prices are very high compared to other islands. The western restaurant (next to the rooms) is good, prices are also high, but it was the only meal that I threw up in two weeks in Thailand (I had the carbonara).
The island itself is absolutely stunning. The hotel has everything for its costumers: beach towels, snorkelling material, and the possibility to rent a kayak for 300 bhats per hour. Staying in the island after the day tourists leave is a privilege that we really enjoyed - going there in May, we were the only ones at the beach.

United KingdomThe public areas got a bit messy with all the day trippers - food waste/ cups left on tables and the beach. I would say staff did try very hard to keep on top of this. The public toilet was also rather dirty.
The island is beautiful. The fish and coral amazing and very accessible to snorkelling as the water is shallow and clear. The accommodation is basic but extremely comfortable and clean with a lovely hill top restaurant serving delicious cocktails and food.

IsraelIt was a bit too isolated for us - other than the hotel, there's nothing on the island. I think it's something the hotel should say in advance, especially since I booked this when looking for places in Koh Tao. There's a ferry that goes twice a day so if you missed it, you're stuck.
The staff was very nice and tried to help with everything.

To stay after the mass tourism is gone, is a Paradies! Fantastic. The view from the room is super nice too. We travels with our baby, and it was great for her to have a beach almost for her! I absolutely can recommend to go there some nights. Love it! And the service is amazing!!! Thank you a lot. Would like to come again

SpainA breathtaking location! I have no idea why people down rated this hotel. Our stay was just perfect! The best best beach in whole Thailand! Rooms are super nice (bathroom is little old but it was ok for us), big and very comfortable. There are limited food selection but it was more than enough for us even with a 6 yo kid. Staff were completely helpful including lobby, beach, room. They really helped a lot. To stay in this hotel is not just a stay, it is an experience, it is a must do if you are visiting Koh Tao!

United KingdomFood in restaurant for dinner could be improved. Very limited choice which is fine, but if you only offer a limited menu you do have to provide those options to a high standard. Breakfast by contrast was very good - but would be nice to have a few Thai options on the menu. Lunch was ok.
Breakfast was good. Restaurant food was ok. We planned to stay one night but it was so nice we stayed an extra night. First night we were in a lodge that must have been one of the furthest from reception. Good workout but for 2nd night we upgraded to a lodge nearer the ground. Both rooms were very nice. Not significantly different. 1st had a tv. 2nd (which was more expensive) didn’t have a tv? No need for a tv anyway with that view 🙂. Overall a lovely and quite unique and special place. Would recommend it for snorkelling, relaxing and having a peaceful time - this is not a place for anyone looking for a lively nightlife!

NetherlandsIn terms of details, maybe a soap or soap dish or something for the tooth brush would be a nice extra to the otherwise empty sink area.
The location is great, the water colour and white sand are stunning and there are fishies everywhere. I had the water for myself in the morning. Would recommend to come with the early shuttle and maybe you are lucky to check in the cabin early. The breakfast has lots of options and is freshly prepared. You sit outside facing the water front. The cabin was clean and spacious with a nice outdoor bed and beautiful sea view. Loved the beach bag and beach towel they provided for the stay, nice touch.
