Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkMamajim is a great woman with a big heart who has built her resort through hard work. It has the best location in the bay for snorkeling. The mornings before the tourist boats arrive and the afternoons after they leave are great. Swimming with sea turtles and the colourful marine life was a joy.

United KingdomWe turned up at the property to be told it was fully booked, even though the booking had been confirmed and the money had been taken from our account. The lady at reception wanted us to pay some more money to be taken to another hotel on the island. This was disappointing as we’d specifically picked the property due to the location. The staff didn’t seem too shocked/surprised that they had overbooked booked and were not apologetic. After some discussion they managed to find us a bungalow to stay in. The bungalow itself is very basic. It only had one plug socket in the whole room quite high up on the wall which made it difficult to charge anything. It was fairly clean but you can tell everything is very old and run down. However, the view from the bungalow is amazing! We enjoyed our stay, however the initial check in was very stressful and we were left to believe the place is very disorganised.
The location is really lovely. Great location if you want to visit Shark Bay, Freedom Beach and John Suwan viewpoint.

NetherlandsDisappointing Experience at OK2 Mamajim Bungalows I had a very disappointing experience at OK2 Mamajim Bungalows. The only positive aspect of our stay was the location, but that was where it ended. The room was downright filthy: moldy shower walls, a ceiling held up with tape, huge dust bunnies under the beds, cockroaches in the shower, and a dirty toilet. The linens were stained and the towels were covered in spots. The textiles were clearly outdated and in urgent need of replacement. Outside, the garden was poorly maintained, with a lot of litter, and it resembled more of a storage area for old toilets and demolition debris than a well-kept environment. Additionally, I had issues with the scooter I rented there. A simple screw was missing from the phone holder’s mount. Instead of resolving this issue in a normal manner, I was met with an aggressive attitude from an older lady and the staff, and I was unjustly charged 500 THB. The lady wanted everything to be brand new. I would suggest starting with the accommodation. That should be your top priority. In short, despite the beautiful location, I cannot recommend this place at all. The unprofessional behavior of the staff, the poor hygiene, and the outdated facilities significantly spoiled my stay.

AustriaThe worst accommodation I‘ve encountered in a month in the south of Thailand, it‘s truly horrible - the staff was the worst I‘ve ever encountered, every time I went to the room they screamed after me asking to pay to enter even after 4 Nights staying there they apparently didn’t remember my face. The bungalow itself is disgusting, as is the whole property there is trash everywhere it‘s very poorly cleaned everything is dirty and old - there are huge gaps between the planks of the floor of the bungalows where cockroaches & spiders crawl through but nothing could‘ve prepared me for the rat that we encountered in the bathroom. That is so unhygienic and a serious health risk - save yourself the trouble and do not stay here under any circumstances no matter how cheap it is it’s unbearable.

United KingdomWe stayed here because of the amazing views across Shark Bay, however in hindsight we would have definitively stayed somewhere else and travelled to Shark Bay when we wanted to enjoy the snorkelling. The room we stayed in was extremely dirty and we dont think it had been cleaned for a very long time. The bed had been changed however layers of dirt and dust could be seen around the bed that had been there forever. The bathroom was also very dirty and the ingrained grime on the floor tiles could be rubbed off by hand when wet. There was dirt and what looked like blood on some of the walls too. The fan that was provided was also very very dirty and rusty. We cleaned this before using it during our stay. Disgusting. We had no hot water while we were there and no water at all on the second morning. This was the last straw and although we had originally booked for 5 nights, we moved out after 2, and found alternative accommodation and we could not stay there any longer. Paying for double accommodation was a small price to pay! Even when we went back on day 5 to check out, the room had not been cleaned, towels had not been changed and the bin had not even been emptied. The ironic thing is the staff all sit around the reception during the day (usually 4 or 5 or them together), not doing much other than keeping their eyes open to charge anyone who wants to gain access to the bay via the hotel steps, 50 baht each. If only they were as keen to stay on top of the room cleaning/room renovation for the guests who have actually paid to stay there. It's such a shame the accommodation doesn't get anywhere near doing the location justice. This is by far the worst place we have stayed whilst travelling around Thailand for the last 2 months.
The view is amazing but no need to stay there to see it!

NetherlandsThe bed could use a little upgrade but for the money you pay its good enough.
Beautiful location, you will hear the sea and wind when you go to bed and wake up. Every morning we were awoken by the sun which let to an early night in. It was perfect, very relaxed and back to nature. Mosquito net for the bed is provided and there is a little fridge in the room that keeps your beers cold. Not every hotel had this.

GermanyI've stayed in a few accommodations in Thailand and I'm not picky either. But this accommodation is really very run down. There is no real door with a lock, it is locked from the inside with a sliding lock. The walls have holes or are built in such a way that there are generous gaps where you can look outside. That's all acceptable... But the bathroom: terrible! The floor there is rough, grainy concrete that you definitely can't get clean. A hole was simply smash into the concrete as a drain. The toilet smelled strongly of urine. There was a large brown stain on the floor next to the toilet, which you probably wouldn't be able to clean properly due to the structure of the floor. It was all very unhygienic. The bed had stains and so did the towels.
The view is awesome. The staff is friendly.
