How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location is perfect—close to the beach, restaurants, and shops, yet still quiet enough to relax and rest peacefully. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with good air conditioning and everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always welcoming with a smile and ready to assist with any questions or arrangements. Their local tips made exploring Phi Phi even more enjoyable. Overall, it felt safe, cozy, and truly like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend Phi Phi Dream Guest House to anyone visiting the island, and I’d happily stay here again on my next trip. 🌴✨

Verified reviewGorgeous place, very peaceful as a bit further outside the town, but only a five minute walk down to the beach! The staff were so kind and helpful and gave us options for booking a day / half day tour - very good rates here. Rooms were very nice and clean.

Verified reviewThe room was nice, everything worked pretty well, location was great (right near the start of the viewpoints), staff were super friendly and helpful - helped book any trips/transport for us, really great value for money!
For some reason the outside of our window was boarded up so didn’t really get much natural light, this wasn’t much of a problem though.

We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to gently point out that all important details about our location, the style of accommodation, and the general atmosphere of our Guest House are clearly described prior to booking. Upon your arrival, we immediately offered you the option to cancel your stay without penalty, understanding that this was perhaps not the type of accommodation you were looking for. Despite the fact that we allowed you to freely inspect your room before checking in and you chose to remain with us . We also want to kindly note that the atmosphere and energy of our staff can be affected when guests express continuous dissatisfaction. Verified reviewI highly recommend this place! It’s at the edge of town, where you can quickly and easily walk to the action, but walk home to get a peaceful night’s rest. Amazing staff. Awesome location. Cutely decorated, cozy rooms. AC was newer and functioning properly. You get a room twice the size as the smaller one for a minimal price difference, so I highly recommend that if you are traveling as a pair! If you like to support your hosts when you can, like I do, they offer competitive prices for ferries and other tourism activities. Their ferry prices were as cheap as the other cheapest ones in town, and cheaper than ones I found online.
Very minor critiques and they are minor enough to still rate my stay a 10/10. It is also one of the most affordable places to stay in town while maintaining a strong review rating, so that doesn’t leave much room to complain! -WiFi is fast for web browsing, but it doesn’t have capability for streaming or video chatting, something that may be needed for business travelers. -Spring beds were so-so for comfort, but I’ve had much, much worse traveling all over SE Asia. -No natural light, but I understand that is often a logistical problem. Forced us to hang outside more anyway, which was the purpose of our visit :)

Verified reviewGreat value for phi phi with a big spacious room and decent beds. Location is pretty central with everything within a short walk away with a 7 eleven also very close by. Friendly staff that helped book a very good value tour which was better priced than many vendors.
Had to pay extra to upgrade room from fan to AC even though the AC was already in the room. Can be a bit noisy outside sometimes as there is a restaurant directly opposite to this guesthouse that seems to be open and busy 24/7.

Verified reviewWhen we arrived the room was not available. They upgraded us to a dark room with no view and we had to pay for additional fee. The rooms were large. It was noisy as some one was hammering late at night.

Upon your arrival, the room you had initially booked was unfortunately unavailable due to a serious incident caused by the previous guest, who severely damaged the bathroom facilities. Emergency repairs were necessary, making the room unusable. For this reason, we immediately offered you an available room at the back of the building. As with all our guests, we checked the details of your booking at check-in. Your reservation was for a fan room, and we simply offered the option to upgrade to air-conditioning, which you accepted. Of course, keeping the fan-only option was absolutely possible, and still is for any guest. We are genuinely surprised and sorry that you considered our place the "worst", especially as you personally came to compliment us on your room during your stay. There were indeed some repairs taking place, but we always try to carry them out with minimal disturbance to our guests. Regarding the rules, these are standard in all hotels: any lost or damaged item must be paid for, as clearly stated in our policy. Lastly, we would like to point out that 275 baht per person for a private room is actually cheaper than a dormitory bed on Phi Phi Island. This destination is significantly more expensive than remote or less touristy areas in Thailand, which explains the difference in pricing. We hope this helps clarify the situation and thank you again for your stay.
