Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Could get quite hot in the top bed. The AC could not directly reach the 2 top beds, so you would have to wait for the cool air to reach the top of the room. Not the cleanest bathroom floor, but okay.
Nice and cozy hostel. 2 dorm rooms. Easy access to main street. 7 eleven 3 min walk. Easy check-in and check-out.

Staying in mixed dormitory if you alone woman with creepy military men - never again Not the fault of hostel I guess, it would be better to have separated dormitory

One toilet down the ways. There weren’t many of us but I had to get up a lot one night.
The owner responded immediately. Four beds in a dorm is great. Everything was very clean.

This was the best hostel I stayed in out of 4 in Pai - clean, comfortable mattresses, power points and light over beds and good thick privacy curtains - hot showers and a safety box for valuables etc - just of walking street and 5 mins from bus station and 7/11! There is also a area to the side to sit off and an excellent place just over the road for good Thai food 40/50 baht - There is also free water hot and cold, coffee and toast and bananas 🍌- You can also get beers and juices at a good price

The lady on the top bunk had anxiety and rocked all night. Nothing to do with the owner or hostel. I slept on the floor 1 night to get some sleep.
The hostel is ran by a local lady with her son. She speaks very good English. The room was adequate for a few night stays. It is very close to the walking street and other restaurants.

Only one toilet can be an issue. If you're a light sleeper you might find it difficult to sleep as noises from the other rooms filter through.
Nice staff. Great location. With breakfast. Coffee and tea available all day long. Good amenities considering it's a hostel with bunk beds.

The ladder to the upper bunk bed starts too high off the ground and I almost fell

Bring your earplugs because it's right next to the street but this thing doesn't bother me so still a 10 for me
2 mins away from the walking street and everything you need. Small and cozy, comfortable beds, lockers for your valuables, breakfast included, nice social area, cool host too!

The owner is super friendly and helpful. The hostel is a small, quiet and comfortable place. The atmosphere was friendly. It is not a party-hostel. Who is looking for a calm place, is right here. Still it is just around the corner of walking street and pubs, and the bus station.

Had an amazing stay at Sharky's Hostel (named to the son of the owners, a funny and smart kid). We had a lot of problems with electricity and water, but they took really good care of us by providing fresh bottles of water and a lantarn. Very clean, very comfortable, free breakfast and coffee. The location is amazing, you're 2 minutes walking distance from Walking street and other facility's, but the street itself is really quiet.

Fantastic value for money! and the location is great too! The hostel is located just a few minutes from walking street and the main bus station. The dorm rooms/toilet/showers are all very clean. I was also pleasantly surprised with the free all day tea and coffee as well as the free jam and toast for breakfast!

The living room smells stinky and there is so many things around. Just not as welcoming as other hostels.
It was close to Pai Walking Street. Spacious bunk beds and clean toilet and shower.

Didn’t really enjoy my stay booked three night but end up stayed one, the room is quite dark, reception is empty half of the time and common area are very small and not filled with love. Not sure where the good reviews come from since I’m sure pai has a lot more to offer than this hostel. The bed is super shaky, and it has a strange vibe in the hostel in general, host are okay, quite reserved but tellls where to access bathroom and give the key that’s it. The shower is horrible!! There’s a big corner in the shower filled with black ants and the floor has worm, is clear not just one day without deep cleaning to result. Location is close to the walking street, but apart from that, not recommended for anyone who is looking for more of a friendly and authentic experience!
