How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewFirst the location is really great, in walking distance to the pier, plenty of restaurants and cafes close by, and also a 7/11. The beds were really comfy and the showers and toilets were clean.The staff and owner were really friendly and helpful. They also have a rooftop with a sitting area, which is quite convenient. Definitely recommend staying there.

Verified reviewThe beds were quite hard but comfy, there is curtains on the bed which is good. Staff were welcoming despite speaking little English!
Th bathrooms and outside area is really unclean, the bathroom is covered in mold and the whole property had a strong smell of drains. There is pictures of communal spaces sofas, coffee etc these spaces don’t exist. There is no space in rooms to open rucksacks and no communal space at all. Overall not worth the money I won’t recommend this hostel.
Thank you for your review. We apologize for the lack of common areas as shown in the photos. We have moved the common areas to the rooftop and are now ready for customers to use. (We will update new photos soon) For the outdoor area, we are currently improving it by laying tiles in the next step after completing the renovation of the rooftop into a common area. As for the bathroom, we clean it twice a day, every morning and afternoon. However, we must admit that there is indeed mold on the edges of the tiles in the bathroom, as the bathroom is a nearly always humid area (wet zone). We will definitely continue to make improvements soon, as we renovate and repair the building every year anyway :)

The cleanliness of this hostel was zero. Saw the cleaners hanging out the dirty sheets without cleaning them and one time they just sprayed them with something and remain the bed. The showers r basically outside and I’d say the toilets are never cleaned. The bins were changed and that was about it. One girl had a period stain on her towel that they gave her. 12 people in one room !! Not good value for money. The hostel is over a tattoo shop and the staff were nice but no English.
I would argue that not cleaning the bed is absolutely not true every time the customers check ou we changing bed sheets ,blankets cover and pillows cover definitely 100% Every time after cleaning is done I check the cleanliness as usual every day and the perfume that the maid sprays is sprayed to add a fragrant organic without harm And the bathroom we are cleaning every day for sure but sometimes if there are a lot of customers, the bathroom can get dirty during the day and if the bathroom is found dirty, customers can inform the reception to clean it again. This is not a big problem. One person who can't speak English is the maid cleaning she is Burmese but the receptionists and other people at the hostel are all Thais who can speak English. Actually our rooms have 3 types room 1. Room 12 bed (the most economical price) 2. Room 6 beds (no show in booking.com) 3. Room 4 beds are necessary (no show in Booking.com) If you want to upgrade your room just ask the receptionist the hostel is located in the center of Koh Tao, just a short walk from the pier. I think 315 baht for a 12 bed room with 3.5 foot beds and 3 showers and 2 toilets is a reasonable price and not expensive :D

Verified reviewGreat hostel located at a nice area in Koh Tao - several restaurants, couple of bars and 7-Eleven nearby. It’s also very close to the pier. Beds were comfortable and shower worked fine. Reception was nice and comfortable, and the rooftop area is a nice plus! The set up is comfortable but very basic though, the lockers are outside of the room, and there’s no storage space at all on the room. There could be better storage spaces like shelves, hangers for towels etc. Receptionist is very helpful and super friendly! 😊

Verified reviewI love the guy in the reception, he was so cute all the time. This hostel has a good location, pretty close to everything.
The bathroom were not clean and the shower was uncomfortable, in case if you want to leave your stuff inside while you are taking a shower. Plus I saw a small spider an a cockroach in the shower every day. The aircon is not working the whole day and is so hot outside, so I was a bit disappointed.

Verified reviewhot showers, bedsheets clean, pillows very comfy, location is good as only a short walk from the pier and very near 2 7/11s. the curtains are very thick and don’t let any light through. the receptionist was very friendly and let us keep our milk and yoghurt for breakfast in the staff fridge!
bathroom was quite dirty, but okay. not very good security as door didn’t lock to the room. but you get what you pay for so can’t complain too much
