I chose this hostel hoping to meet some people after being alone in my previous hostel (low season) and it didn't disappoint! The staff (international) was amazing. There is a pool table, everyone uses grab to order food at the big table in the garden, they organize games etc, so everything is made to connect people which is the best part about traveling. This hostel is just perfect for backpackers. You can rend scooters, they give you recommandations about activities. I was supposed to stay one night but I decided to extend. Toilet and showers are outside of the room which is great. There is free water. The surrounding is great and Blue Temple and Chiang Rai Bus Terminal 1 are close.

Best hostel I've stayed in in thailand. Management and volunteers are amazing. The volunteers stay in the hostel and create a really friendly and social vibe. Though they are also really respectful if you want to do your own thing. They have partnered with local businesses so they organised a motorbike to be brought to the hostel and was then collected from the hostel when I left

    Nothing.

Social Garden was my first hostel experience in Thailand and I think it ruined my future hostel experiences in this country because it was AMAZING, and I don't think the other hostels will come close to this. The staff and volunteers are wonderful people. I wish i had time to stay longer. I felt very welcome from the start. Right away I was included in the activities. They helped me book a tour of the area. The evening games are so fun. Sitting at the table and getting to know people from all over the world was a highlight for me. People go out to eat together and invite anyone to join. We went to muay thai together, which is not something i would try alone, but had a great time. The beds are SO comfortable. If you want to have a social experience, and feel included even as an introvert like myself, stop looking around and book this place.

One of my favourite hostels I’ve ever stayed in, I absolutely loved it here! All of the staff and volunteers are super friendly and welcoming and care about everyone having a good stay. It’s a great place to meet new people as it’s social but chilled, and beers available to buy onsite if you want them. Every evening there is an activity on offer - it could be going out somewhere e.g. to the night market or staying in and playing card games for example. Great location with a 7/11 and lots of cheap restaurants a few minutes walk away, and the centre of town also a short walk away Dorm rooms and bathrooms are spacious and were always really clean, and lots of space to hang out both inside and outside. The beds are the absolute best I’ve ever had while travelling, I’ve never slept so well in a dorm! Very comfy mattresses and two plump pillows!

If you want to meet new friends quickly and feel like you’re part of a little family, this is the place to be. By far the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Thailand. When you arrive and check in, within 30 minutes, you’ll likely have met 4-5 new people. It’s an amazing vibe that makes you feel great right away. Plus, they offer a free egg in the morning with toast and coffee, which is a perfect start to your day. The beds are comfortable, the showers have great pressure with hot water, towels are included, and the AC works perfectly. They host games or events every night, and you’re always welcome to join in. You can also play ping pong, volleyball, or badminton. The two owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, assisting you with getting anywhere you need to go. They’ve even made a map that you can scan with a QR code, allowing you to see all the best activities in Chiang Rai on Google Maps, perfect for planning your day. It’s such a welcoming place. I hope I can stay there again!

Everyone working there was wonderful, except when those bastards beat us at beer pong! How dare they 😉 The place is spacious, beds are comfi and there are fun activities. They set up a scooter to be delivered at the hostel for me and gave me great advice on where to go and what to see. Awesome place, incredible value! Ps. Number 17 in Bingo still has me smiling. What is it? Book and find out!

Every morning you can have breakfast outside and every evening you can join guests and staffs for night activities. This place is close to all the points of interest in the city. Be careful you risk staying longer than expected. Thanks for all social garden family.
