Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNoisy at night from frogs & cicadas. No food close by, must walk (ride or drive) to town which is 1klm each direction. This could be a problem for someone having a long stay. Some minor damage & wear but everything worked.
Friendly hospitable staff. Friendly pet cats. Comfortable bed & clean swimming pool. They gave me free upgrade to a/c room. Location quiet away from city life. Free bread, fruit, tea/coffee

United StatesThe rooftop was a bit dingy and only had one chair. It would have been a nice spot to chill otherwise.
The pool was lovely and being out on the countryside was very pleasant. Google maps took us a strange longer route to get there but it was actually quite a short road to town once you found the right road.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The little individual huts were perfect and not like any other hostel we’d been to before. The facilities were great - a pool which you could relax in when it’s hot, two little just with hammocks and seating it and on top of the huts you had your only little roof top to sit in. Also the location was a 3 min drive or a 5 min walk away from the centre of Pai which meant it was really convenient but also quiet & peaceful. Also the staff were lovely had no issue with us extending our stay by three nights :)

MexicoBeing surrounded by nature is a big part of the charm here, and with that comes the presence of bugs—both outside and sometimes inside the room. If you’re someone who’s comfortable coexisting with nature, this place will be just fine for you haha. The open environment also means that wind and rain can quickly bring a bit of dirt and leaves to the outside areas of the rooms. The staff is very helpful and will gladly clean if you ask, but things can get messy again just as fast—it’s all part of the natural setting. If you’re open to embracing the outdoors, this place offers a truly unique stay.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. They offered coffee, toast and fruit which was nice. The location, 10 min walk outside of the walking streets, was ideal for me because you get to see the mountains up close and the atmosphere is super peaceful and quiet all the time. I loved the feeling I had while being at the hotel because I felt far from the city and immersed in nature even though it’s only a 10 min walk.

We loved our stay here, really nice room in our hut, very clean, nets on windows so no bugs and very airy. Amazing roof on the hut for yoga, a blissful haven in the middle of paddy fields. We also loved the free breakfast. Staff incredibly friendly and very easy walk into town, worth it to not be right in the centre.

United KingdomEverything…… The staff were friendly and accommodating. There was tea coffee fruit bread jam and marmalade available 24 hours a day. They offer a free pick up from and to the walking street. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The little huts were adorable. The pool was clean and very refreshing after a day out. A 10 minute walk from the main walking street, this place is a little gem. We could not fault it. We would definitely stay again next time we are in Pai They also had the most lovely dog 10/10 from us ❤️

This place is perfect. We have stayed here 3 times now over three years and will always come back because the staff are so lovely and helpful with everything. It’s nice that it’s not in the centre of pai so you’re surrounded by nature. Also we love the cats that live there, they make the stay so much more special

United KingdomThis was the perfect place to relax. The staff are super friendly and there is a little kitchen with a toastie press and a microwave so you can enjoy your 7eleven treats (do not miss the chocolate lava cake) from the comfort of your own bungalow. Bed was comfy, water pressure was good, air con was great, the place was super clean. Also each bungalow has a mini fridge. Honesty just a really nice spot to chill away from the busy town. Also I can recommend savoei for a great cooking class.

United StatesThey kindly provide complimentary bottles of drinking water each day, which is much appreciated. However, I’d love to see a free refill station offered instead. It would be a more sustainable option and help reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles—something that remains a challenge in Thailand, and globally as well.
Countryside Pai is an absolute oasis! Nestled in a peaceful, scenic setting, it’s the perfect place to unwind. The pool is a dream for cooling off on hot days, and the huts are spacious, spotless, and full of charm. What truly sets this place apart is the people— the owner and staff are incredibly warm, laid-back, and genuinely welcoming. They go above and beyond, offering everything from laundry service to motorbike rentals, making your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. It’s fantastic value for money and just a short 10-minute walk into town. This was my second stay here, and once again, I absolutely loved it!

"We absolutely loved The Countryside Pai! The host is the kindest person we met in Thailand – definitely a big bonus! The place is beautiful, and the room was simple but very comfortable. They offer a small breakfast, and the location is great – close to the center and within easy walking distance, since Pai is such a safe town. They also offer transportation to and from the center when you arrive or leave, which is super convenient. We highly recommend it!

United KingdomIt was a little far out from the main centre (only a 15/20 min walk) but in the heat feels like more! Very easy to hire a scooter though, the hotel helped us do it and was no hassle. Some facilities were a little run down but nothing to complain much about! Was a lovely lovely experience.

NetherlandsNothing, but to make it a even better: we missed some hooks to hang our stuff to (clothes, towels)
Great place just outside of the center. Short walk (about 10-15 minutes, very pretty). Staff is very welcoming and the cabins are very cute. You can sit on top of them to watch the stars at night or for sunbathing, very hot, but take a dive into the pool and you're fine! Don't expect luxury, but a nice laid back place that fits really into the Pai vibe (but without the party backpackers - they are in the village center).
