How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis place was amazing. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us. We stayed in a pool villa which had everything we needed. Breakfast was fantastic, had everything you could want for breakfast. Hotel gym was great too! Taxis were easy to get to and from hotel to travel into main towns

Verified reviewRosy and all of the staff are a dream. Consistently kind and attentive. Absolutely luxurious and you really feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. It was my kid’s bday a few days before so they made her feel very special. You don’t have to leave the property to get a proper Samui experience! Make sure to book into the themed nights. They are worth it. Food is fab.

Verified reviewThe rooms were comfortable especially having the division of space so toddler and us could all be comfortable. Large bathroom, good sized living area which doubled as my sons bedroom and then balcony. Son liked the kids club but they could add some more toys I think. Staff were great on the whole- they even helped us put up a blackout curtain so my son could comfortably sleep in the living room. They came to quickly resolve our blocked shower drain and tried their best to manage loss of wifi during our stay. Breakfast was wonderful- lots of variety- this was the only meal we enjoyed during our stay.
The welcome lobby was underwhelming and there is no aircon area to wait for pickup- only 2 miserable tiffany chairs. You wouldn't know you had pulled into a 5* hotel at all. Interior decor is really lacking. Steps were not ideal being pregnant- i had to take a flight up to check in lobby and 2 flights to and from my room. Hated that we needed to use a buggy to go everywhere as there are no safe pavements, walking paths. The hotel lacks the look and feel of a high end resort esp the beach side restaurant indoor area. I felt like i was in a very simple canteen- no interior design - they lack high chairs so they need to buy more of those. The food, except the margherita pizza was bad. My son spat out the spaghetti meatballs meal as he said it was so bad. Kids menu is very sad. I couldn't eat my sloppy burger that I ordered one day and service is not so attentive but when you're ready to leave 3 waiters will come to clear up. Thai restaurant was also average (we were dining in the dark until we asked for a lamp) - we tried to go out for as many meals as we could because there are amazing thai restaurants in Koh Samui with better atmosphere and food and price. The beach is underwhelming and the sea is rocky so didn't really go in far.

Verified reviewVery little to be honest. Our entire stay was a disappointment. The staff were very understanding and they even upgraded us to a pool villa, which did make our stay better overall, but for sure we won’t be back / we don’t feel the value for money was adequate.
The resort is massive and extremely crowded. There are busses going around the premises bring people around and, if you are not lucky enough to have a room walking distance from the main facilities, you will have to wait up to 20 minutes to get a buggy or any form of transportation during peak times. We found this quite annoying and not adequate for this price point. The staff are very kind but, in general, we didn’t find them adequately trained for a 5 starts resort. They were shouting to communicate things to each other at the beach while people were trying to relax, and they weren’t particularly kind or understanding when guests were complaining about having to wait 15 minutes to get seated at breakfast. In addition, the beach resort is probably the most ugly in Samui. It was impossible to swim due to rocks and low tide, and we were advised to only use the pool.

Verified reviewEverything about this place was amazing, from the staff to the facilities in and around the hotel. From the second we were greeted by Aum at Koh Samui Airport, we were treated like family. I would highly recommend this resort in every aspect. Everyone couldn't have done more for me and my family
Nothing, everything was looked after, attention to detail was put into everything

Verified reviewOur stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui was a truly memorable experience. The resort is stunning — nestled into the hillside with sweeping ocean views and surrounded by lush greenery, it feels like a peaceful sanctuary. Although we didn’t book a villa with a private pool, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a beautiful sea view room upon arrival. The view was breathtaking and made our stay feel even more special. From start to finish, the service was exceptional — every staff member was warm, professional, and eager to help. The room was immaculate, elegant, and comfortable, and we loved waking up to ocean views and birdsong each morning. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, offering a wide selection of Thai and international dishes in a lovely setting. We also really appreciated the daily Appreciation Hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., where guests can enjoy the “cocktail of the night” — a thoughtful and relaxing touch before dinner. One of the highlights of our evenings was dining at Sea Breeze restaurant, where we enjoyed not only great food but also the fire show by the beach — such a magical way to end the day. Though the resort is spread out, buggy service was prompt and efficient. We loved the peaceful, tucked-away location, which made it easy to unwind and truly disconnect. We left feeling pampered and refreshed, with beautiful memories and a strong desire to return. Highly recommend for anyone seeking luxury, tranquility, and a few unique touches along the way.

Verified reviewI had the most incredible stay at The Ritz-Carlton in Koh Samui. The room was absolutely outstanding, spacious, elegant, and impeccably maintained. The resort is beautifully run, with a truly impressive number of staff who are among the kindest, most genuinely helpful people I have ever encountered in a hotel. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and happy, always with a smile and warmth that felt sincere and heartfelt. The concierge team was exceptional in helping organise all of my activities both in and outside the resort, I felt completely looked after from the moment I arrived. Honestly, I felt more cuddled than when I visit my own mom at home! The Thai restaurant was not only delicious but also stunning in its design. There are daily events across the different restaurants, and an abundance of activities to choose from, whether you’re looking to relax or explore. This was truly one of the best hotel experiences of my life. I can’t wait to return.
If I had to mention one small thing, it’s that the resort is quite large, so you often move around by buggy. But thanks to how well-staffed the resort is, I never had to wait more than five minutes, it was smooth and efficient every time.

Nothing was too much trouble, all activities, daily schedule, travel/transport and restaurants we offered up as options with recommendations and priority booked. Verified reviewThe Staff was amazing and the view from the Villa was beautiful! And the breakfast was pretty good as well.
Unfortunately the beach was not great. The sand was very rough and it was steep so it was hard to walk on. Obviously you can't change that rocks in the water but I feel like they could have done something to make the beach more accessible and nicer.
