Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaI highly recommend this hostel, particularly if you are looking for a place that is away from the hustle and bustle, but within easy walking distance (although most people rent a motorbike...200 baht per day). The facilities are typical hostel standard, but what I liked a lot was the location and the genuine hospitality of the owner/manager, Lek. Located midway between the ferry piers and Shark Bay, it is an easy walk to restaurants, shops, the 2 main tourist areas and the southern beaches...and it is quiet at night! The immediate area is mostly residential and businesses catering to both locals and tourists, so it is a different environment compared to the overdeveloped, tourism-centric west coast. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within 600 metres. Lek is a great host...she is pleasant, happy, helpful and generous. She converses well in English and enjoys having a chat and a laugh. There are no private rooms, only 2 dorms with a total of 14 beds available to guests, so the vibe is quite "homely" and fits in well with the neighbourhood. Lek keeps the hostel clean and tidy. I stayed 9 nights in the fairly spacious 10-bed dorm. The mattress was large and comfortably firm. Bunks have a privacy curtain (but not at the bed-ends). The air-con is effective. There are lockers (more than large enough for valuables) in the communal area. Bathroom facilities consist of 3 rooms...2 with shower and toilet, 1 with shower only. Shower gel and shampoo are provided. There is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, some crockery and cutlery and free drinking water.

United KingdomThe hostel wasn't very social and a half-hour walk out of the main area, so it's not best for solo travellers.
The lady running the hostel was very nice. She helped me when I got sick and drove me wherever I needed to go. The hostel was clean and very good value for money.

The best feature of this hostel is the hospitality of the host. She is a very caring person, that makes you feel at home right from your arrival. Many people prolong their stay here. The other guests are also very nice. Perfect when you are looking for a social, but not loud party hostel. Matresses are also great :) value for money +++

United StatesReally enjoyed my time here! The mattress was so comfortable. I slept well and stayed asleep each night, without tossing and turning. The air conditioning is strong and the common area is cozy; there are frequently people hanging out on the couches or at the coffee table, but it is never loud or bothersome. The highlight of the property is of course the owner. She is incredibly hospitable (offering to make you coffee and tea on the daily) and takes pride on keeping a clean and comfortable environment. It’s a really safe area. I never even used my locker in the 5 days I was here. The other guests here were friendly and considerate. I don’t ride a motorbike, but I didn’t have any problems walking the 15-20 minutes to the center. There is also Freedom Beach only 13 minutes away and there are many food/drink options 5-10 minutes away. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

United KingdomThe owner and her handy man were absolutely brilliant and made the entire stay so comfortable. She does kindly offer rides from the pier and back again for free which saved us a lot of money as taxis are expensive on the island. She also takes guests to the beach where you can watch a fire show and have drinks. The place was clean and the beds comfortable!

United KingdomSo the property does not have a coastal view etc etc like some of the other hostels on Koa Toa. But genuinely I would stay here every time 10x over. The owners were the kindest and sweetest Thai people in the world. The facilities were new and everything was perfectly clean everyday honestly for the price you get much much more in return.

FinlandThe owner slept in the dorm, which we found pretty odd since we weren't informed about that. Room was a bit small for six people (three bunk beds). Also there were no curtains for privacy. No reading lights or outlets by the bed, but the owner did provide extension cords, which worked awkwarkdly for the top bunks. 3 showers and 2 toilets for 11 guests, which might be a problem during busy season. We weren't given any personal keys and the dorms weren't locked. The front door was open during the day and closed during the night, but we are not sure if it was locked.
You get what you pay for: the hostel was quite clean, location was calm and remote which was what we were looking for. Fridge for guests and water were included. The price of the laundry service was standard and after some searching we got all our clothes back.
