How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuper friendly family run hostel. Nice building and great location. They even have a water spring in the garden with fresh cold water! Good place to go to the 7 lakes and they are helpful with organising trips to the mountains. Clean place.
Beds are very old and uncomfortable.. They do something wrong with booking pricing. You can not book a double room for 2 persons and you end up paying double the price. They have to have a look at that.

Verified reviewFriendly staff, but only Mansour speaks English. Place was clean and comfortable. Very cool seating area away from the heat. Location is excellent but not well signposted. Look for the wooden door with number 15. Would stay here again.
Only one bathroom could become a problem when the place is full but it was OK for my stay.
Thank you! We have 2 bathrooms, but maybe you didn't see 🙂

Verified reviewVery nice hosts, beautiful yard by their building. Thanks for cooking an early breakfast for us, as we were checking out early.
The price turned out to be almost twice more than we expected... It was said $11 on Booking, but turned out to be $20 at the property. But anyway we are thankful.
Hello Elena. Thank you for your feedback 🙏. Regarding the prices, I wanted to say that you booked for one person, so it was 11 dollars. For two people the price changes accordingly. Thank you.

Verified reviewVery friendly people, the husband the wife and all the kids! We also met a lot of travellers there and had a great time through breakfast, which was delicious. The owner was Very communicative and available to help us out with our trek and give us some insights on tajik history and advice on where to have dinner. Very comfortable beds. All in all a very good start in Panjakent!
There was only one bathroom but we never had to wait long to use it. There was a small problem with our internet booking so it's best to get their confirmation a couple of days before arrival, if not through the site then by phone. All in all a great stay in Panjakent!
Thank you very much!

Verified reviewThe staff is very friendly. The owner, Mansur, will help you adapt to Tajikistan and give you useful advice on what to do and what not to do. The location is ideal, close to the center, and there is plenty of space to stay there if you are traveling by bike or backpacking. There is spring water in the courtyard.
Thank you very much Taras. 🙏

Verified reviewThe location is convenient to go to the Pangakent Bazaar and behind it is the shared taxi and marshrutska area. The interior courtyard is calm and lovely with greenery. My bedroom was quiet and very comfortable, with a requested fan excellent for air circulation. A very basic breakfast is included. Decent WiFi.
Mansour speaks basic English but like I’ve found all over Tajikistan, isn’t very responsive on WhatsApp. Also the one Western toilet is annoyingly located outside in another building and isn’t that clean. 🤮 I saw hairs the first day and into the next so unimpressed with the bathroom cleanliness.
🙏🤮🙂

Verified reviewGreat place. Owner and his family go out of their way to make things special and efficient for travellers. They dedicate time and work tirelessly to go beyond expectations. The hostel is close to Panjakent's bazaar. Easy to get to and well located with shops and restaurants within walking distance. Internet works great. Good breakfast as well. If you need tours or want to go around Tajikistan, staff can help you organise whatever you need. Plenty of travellers from all over the world will also enhance and entertain your stay.
All good.
Thank you very much dear Rodrigo! 🙏 Hope to see you soon, good luck and have a good travel. 🙂

Verified reviewI would have happily spent the whole day relaxing in the courtyard of this home-from-home family-run hostel. Mansur is intelligent, knowledgeable, kind and his family are lovely too. Near the bazaar and shared taxis to all locations. Bokhara cafe js and excellent place for lunch and dinner - 5-7 minutes walk away.
Thank you very much Ameen!

Verified reviewBreakfast was amazing and the accommodation was located very near the central bazaar.
I think there was an error listed about the rooms - I was quoted USD12 for a triple room, which is the same price as a dorm room when I booked online and was assigned to the dorm room. Dorm beds do not have plugs next to the bed and do not have privacy curtains if that’s something you must have. Bed was abit soft for my liking - felt that it was ‘sinking’ in the middle

Verified reviewGreat location in Central Panjakent where I was able to meet fellow travellers (and the help of our gracious host) arrange a hike & accommodation in the seven lakes region. Plus clean bathrooms and a warm welcome (with a cool drink and a cup of tea).
Nothing, this place was great.
Thank you very much dear Patrick!

Verified reviewWonderful atmosphere, very good location. Mansur is an absolutely generous host with a lovely family.
The layout of the dorms is a bit weird as one room opens from another. Also there is only one bathroom that can get a little busy when the guesthouse is full.

Verified reviewI had a lovely and comfortable stay at Sim Sim Hostel. Mansur arranged a great tour to the 7 Lakes for me and another couple at a good price, and even joined us on the hike from the 6th to 7th lake with his little son. Such a wonderful family ,his sweet mom, friendly wife, and two helpful sons made the stay even more special. I definitely plan to come back!
