How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review+ inside the Medina + nice summer vibe + sea view
- breakfast could be improved. They served one slice of (industrial) cake each, one egg, some (industrial) jams, and some (industrial) yogurt. Perhaps finding more local products and non-processed food would be nicer. - Cash payment

Verified reviewParking right in front. Pleasant check in. Cash only. You get a key to your room and the front door. Family room is on the second floor with a beautiful white washed stairway going up to the children’s loft. There is a balcony/ patio off the main room which is quite lovely with some furniture. I'm not sure that it's private for this room though. The room is decorated in a sea theme. Bathroom is good size. Can walk to the rest of old Madiha and restaurants easily. Breakfast was fine. It was offered to be set on the balcony to which we agreed but then she set it in the kitchen for us the next morning with no explanation. Coffee, hot milk, yogurt, oranges, hard boiled eggs, bread, cake, halva, butter and jam.
The guest house wasn't easy to spot; no obvious signage. The bathroom's shower curtain and curtain rod need desperate upgrading. I was expecting a bit better view of the sea from the balcony/patio. In February the room was damp and cold even with the heat pump on, maybe all the hot air was going to the loft. The duvet on the bed was very heavy though and kept us warm all night long.

Verified reviewVery clean. Great bed. Aesthetic. And GORGEOUS Terrace! Good location. Quiet. Well lit so we could read in bed. Warm with the heating.
It was difficult to find. It was tiny with no place for our suitcase. The breakfast wasn't exciting. They don't make the beds daily. I didn't like the fact that there was nobody to greet us or help us.
Dear Prema, thank you for staying at our guesthouse. We are happy that you were generally content. and could enjoy the terrace as well. As you know, it is a traditional Tunisian style house. The location is marked on google and there is a big airbnb sign hung outside of the house indicating the entrance. Honestly, we offer more for breakfast than other guesthouses like do in the area. There is a variety of things to eat and egg specialities also. The breakfast way exceeds the standard continental breakfast. You left at 6:00 am one morning and we made sure you had a small breakfast prepared for you in the kitchen before you left. Of course, we couldn´t prepare fresh eggs, joghurt etc. the day before. Underneath the wardrobe there is actually some space to store your suitcase. Guests that stay 3+ days have their beds made and towels exchanged. Because we only have 3 rooms to offer, our reception is not manned 24/7. Depending on the time of arrival we always make sure that someone is there to welcome.

Verified reviewGreat location to walk to restaurants and shops. Beautiful spot to be able to watch the sunset from our patio. I love the amount of plants and succulents the property has, very tropical feel with the plants surrounding the pool. The breakfast option was great. We even ended up extending our stay because it was such a comfortable and beautiful stay.
I can’t think of anything we disliked. Had all the amenities. One thing I would say the shower curtain holder wasn’t stable and causes water to go everywhere in the bathroom. But an easy fix.
Dear Melissa, we are truly happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and soaked up the atmosphere in the house and its surroundings. Thanks so much for your complaint regarding the shower curtain, we will fix this asap. All the best to you and hopefully we can welcome you again one day!

Verified reviewA charming Riad with a courtyard with pool and a rooftop with view of the sea. Located in the centre of Mahdia old town. Breakfast simple but good. Friendly lady who welcomed us and prepared us breakfast.
Cleaning could be improved, there was no duvet cover just some dusty duvets in the wardrobe. Bathroom could do with a bit of refurbishment.
Dear Francesca, thank you so much for your rating and honest words. We appreciate that you generally enjoyed your stay and Boutheina´s services. We apologize that the cleanliness did not fulfill your expectations and are working on improving these matters. All the best to you!

Verified reviewIt was a little oasis of peace and quiet 1 minute walk from the Medina and the sea. Lovely to have the plunge pool in the courtyard. Upstairs we enjoyed the sea breeze in the evenings. Only 3 rooms so we enjoyed complete privacy, The staff and the owner were very hospitable and offered plenty of local recommendations.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect. Close to the center, everything in walking distance. Mahdia is well worth a visit. Breakfast is ok.
Very hard to find, no signs or instructions how to get to the Dar. Nobody was there to receive us and we had to check multiple rooms before we found our room. The Dar is very noisy, and we could hear all the things that happened above and next to our room. There were a lot of hairs at the ground of our room and also in the prepared bed, looked like somebody already been there before. No personal touch at all and not worth the value for the price you pay.
