How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice house overall really beautiful inside. Great details and well curated. The bedroom is the best part of the house. When I communicated my wish to stay only one night they were kind to accomodate us.
Although it is a 10min walk from the medina, the location isn't the best. The toilette seat was broken and in the shower gets clogged. Outside and around the house is very dirty. You need to drive into a little road without asphalt and no illumination. To walk to the center you literally need to walk in dirty hallways near the house in which there is garbage and litter everywhere. (Pics are attached). I hope they will clean the surrounding. I originally booked two nights but we decided to stay only one night due to the location and because we needed wifi but the house doesn't provide it (although it was my mistake when I booked cause they wrote wifi isn't available)

Verified reviewOur room and the property in general was one of the most stunning we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world and such amazing value, to boot!!! The owner was so incredibly helpful and the restoration job she had overseen was nothing short of first class!!! Perfect location in the heart of Houmt Souk too!!! This property really does have to be seen to be believed and comes highly, highly recommended!!!

Verified reviewIt is not a big hotel but rather stay in a traditional house with an inner courtyard, kitchen. There are no other guests staying there. There are a 2 other rooms used for storage or for making handicrafts etc. and sometimes there might be people there but most of the time, I had the whole place to my own. At night, I could sit in the courtyard and look at the stars. There was a pleasant smell from the flowers there. This was quite relaxing. The room itself was also very interesting and it was a good experience staying there. Not a long walk from the main sights of Houmt Souk. The hostess Wiem was available over WhatsApp in case of questions and also provided useful information about sightseeing etc.
No wifi and even mobile signals were weak inside the room. The host doesn't have mobile internet and if you have problems finding the place, it would get difficult to get in touch. They should consider installing WiFi. It's quite dark outside at night (even with a small LED light at the main entrance). Once I returned at night and the neighbors dog started barking and I heard some rustling in the nearby bushes which scared me as I couldn't see anything. Also a sign leading to the place on the outside walls would be helpful. There are some steps in the place which makes it not suitable for people with reduced mobility and even otherwise, one has to be careful specially at night going to the toilet etc.

Verified reviewBeautiful, traditional space and larger than expected. A very comfortable yet authentic experience
The house was on a very sandy road and the exact location to find the house had to be explained by the host over the phone to the taxi driver. It was, however, very smooth since the host was very communicative and helpful.

Verified reviewThis is the best place to choose for people who love to travel without stay close in the hotel. Wiem is a great owner that is always ready to give you tips and help. We have done some experiences with their cultural association named Djerba Insolite and we can say now to have lived days that we can remember within best of our life...shukran!!! 🥰

Verified reviewThe room is huge, way bigger than we expected. It is comfortable, quiet, and well decorated. We loved the courtyard! I would recommend adding some extra chairs for sunbathing, etc.
Even though it is well located (not too far from the city centre), the street is very dark in the evening. It was a bit hard to plan the check in with the owners, but everything went smoothly in the end. There is no wifi.

Verified reviewThe property is nicely decorated but it is quite difficult to find since it is located in the alley of the medina.
The bedsheet and blankets in the storeroom is not nicely placed. I wonder if those are clean or not.

Verified reviewIt was an experience to stay at the property. The host gave a detailed introduction to the organization and the workshops associated with the property. Stay was very comfortable. Very clean, plenty of hot water, Quiet. It was a shame I only stayed for one night but if I was ever to return I would definitely stay here for atleast 2 nights if not more.
It would be a little bit easier to just add some sign or a name plate at the end of the street to point in the right direction. The property is not marked and it took an observant neighbor to point me in the right direction after I struggled in the nighborhood.

Verified reviewHonestly, everything. The place was stunning and much bigger than what we expected. You can also sit in the courtyard in front of it and look at the beautiful sky above you. The place is truly a place of tranquility. Being part of the sustainable tourism initiative, you not only support their work but you can truly see how impactful it is! The place is also superclose to the city centre! I will definitely be coming back again. :)
Our only problem was to find the place (but google maps helped), but other than that, it pretty much exceeded our expectations. It was truly amazing!

Verified reviewThis place is great and so unic! It is located in neighbourhood in Djerba walking distance to the souq, but with no signs or any information. You have to contact with the local host to pick you from a place agreed and take you there. Taxis cant find it. After that everything goes smoothly. The room is stylish, wide and also comfortable with A/C. There is a kitchen on side but I didn't use it. Would recommend for sure!
