Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalBed is not very comfortable but not terrible, I think it just depends on your taste of mattress.
Amazing Dar in the middle of the medina. Our favorite was indeed the staff (always so nice and friendly) and the breakfast. We felt immediately safe and at home. You need to request the towels in the reception and they are of course free (we saw comments saying otherwise). Thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable!

HungaryIt’s a slightly high price point for the level of the facilities - we were happy with what it had to offer but it’d be rightly priced if it was slightly cheaper.
Charming hostel right in the medina of Tunis. Super friendly staff. Features beautiful traditional decor. Cleaned very well. Nice roof terrace. I was travelling with my kids & having stayed in hotels for the rest of our trip, this place reminded me why I love the hostel atmosphere so much.

ItalyThis was my 3th time at Dar Ya. Next time in Tunis will be Dar Ya again, for sure! Everything is fine there. Above all is the staff (that I now consider close friends) which makes the difference. Go to Dar Ya.guys!

GermanyDar Ya was a very beautiful place to stay in the heart of the Medina in Tunis. The entrance is a bit hidden, but still easy to find. A quaint small yet pretty place, very clean (the sheets smelled of detergent :D), the staff were quite nice and helpful. The breakfast every morning was delicious. The bathrooms were also clean and the water very hot. The only downside was that the internet did not reach the second floor.

United KingdomToilets need regular cleaning. Unpleasant smell. Please note, toilets are unisex.
Location - Right in the centre of Medina Staff - very helpful. When I was leaving to the airport in the morning about 5am, the staff even walk me out to meet the taxi driver because the hostel is inside the medina and not accessible by car. So we had to walk about 2 mins to where the taxi is. Decor - traditional style with a centre courtyard. Breakfast is basic but it is not bad. For the price of the accomodation, it is good.

CanadaNice location, there are a few small shops near the hostel selling water and sandwiches, wraps ect. The jam and cream cheese and halwa sandwich just down the street was amazing, as were some wraps from a nice lady, and oaja from a store with bowls out front. Fun place to stay and explore the Medina. 35 minute walk down through the Medina to Bab al Bahr and down the main ave to the bus and train terminal Tunis Bahria. 1 dinar for a train of bus to Sidi Bou Saed or La Marsa. Great way to spend the day. Nice staff here and very friendly. Breakfast is very nice, as is the roof patio. Just outside the Medina there there is a bit busier street with fast food restaurants open until later. Above the medina the Qasr al Baladia is a nice place to watch the sun go down

United KingdomSorry Dar Ya but I have to say. You need to improve your internet service. I am a very internet dependent person and the internet in my room was just almost zero. I bought my own internet sim but it was 3G in the room. I know there are still ways for them to improve this- given that their rate is Euro level.
The hostel was very aesthetically appealing.

United KingdomNothing.
A beautiful building in traditional style, in the heart of the Médina. The roof top offers a great place to enjoy the sunshine and the view. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and patient with me as I struggled through trying to speak french.

United KingdomWifi could be better across all the rooms but apart from that, difficult to fault.
Absolutely the nicest guys. Came to pick me up from the airport which was a massive relief as often navigating medinas in North Africa can be a bit hairy. I didn't have to pay anything until I got there, so trusting and welcoming. Great breakfast, great Dar renovated to a high standard.

United KingdomWell when we got there, nobody was there for us. We didn't wait for long, but it was still a little bit underwhelming.
We loved the overall vibe. Great place to spend a night or two in the Medina. Breakfast was also very decent and the staff very friendly.

CroatiaGoing home.
The place is beautiful, very central in Medina but still close to a car pickup place in a bigger street. All the souks, restaurants, street food you can possibly need. The terrace is very nice, breakfast is very good and my advice is take it to the terrace and enjoy the morning sun. But the BEST were the STAFF, so nice, helpful that they make your stay go to another level. Love you guys!

NetherlandsShared bathroom is a small inconvenience which I knew about before booking.
Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. Due to an early departure on my last day, breakfast was prepared a little earlier, (usually from 7:30am). Excellently located by the medina. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Air conditioned rooms (upstairs). Selection of books in the common area to read.

SpainI didn't have WiFi in my room. Also, the taxi service provided by the hotel is more than expensive. A normal ride to the airport costs 5€.
The location of the hotel is more than perfect, the premises are nice and clean. I didn't expect it to have air conditioning and it had, what was super nice. Also, it was clean.

Czech RepublicToo expensive for what it is - a colorful hostel. The photos of the rooms are a bit misleading. The room was very warm with no AC. Walking through medina in the evening doesn't feel great. The breakfast is basic.

PortugalBreakfast is frustrating to say the least. Only a few sweets, couple of breads and milk/coffee/tea and basically no protein. Friendly as always, the staff made us boiled eggs upon request, but that's still very far from a decent breakfast given the tunisian cuisine and hospitality. Was expecting to start the day full to explore Tunis, but instead had to go out looking for food to complement. Shower was also damaged
Staff was super friendly and helpful at all times. Location in the medina is really good and bedroom is small, but comfortable. Rooftop is a nice place to hang out and rest
