Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The room was big and quite clean. Good position for the visit of the Medina.

New ZealandMajestic Hotel is an old colonial French building with interesting history but is rather faded and in need of serious renovation in places ( carpets worn and dirty, drapes are similar, bed and pillows lumpy and hard). It’s in a great location though , walking distance to Medina, Clock Tower etc. Staff very helpful and friendly.

FranceThe lack of generosity - water only on day 1. 2 sachets of tea. 2 PAPER CUPS. No coffee. The kettle was placed nowhere near a plug point. We found long hair on the floor. The mattress was tired.
The spacious room, the old world charm and the location. Huge bathroom. The view of the park. The lovely natural light. Kettle and bar fridge.

ItalyThe Majestic hotel is a charming old hotel in the center of Tunis, outside the Medina. Excellent location, convenient for walking everywhere, it has a restaurant inside otherwise within walking distance there are many others, as well as various shops and even real shopping centers. The hotel has a charm all its own, one of those hotels not too modernized, comfortable with very large rooms equipped with all comforts. Recommended!

FinlandNo major complaints considering the price.
The hotel is located within walking distance of the center and attractions. The room had good lighting and a wide, moderately soft bed. The equipment of the room included a table and two padded chairs. The rooms facing the side street are quite quiet. Breakfast of international standard and no traffic this time.

GermanyThe air-conditioning didn't seem to work and the spa was closed. The staff was not super well informed about local attractions. There was lot's of Moskitos in the room every evening when we returned.
The hotel staff was very helpful and not pushy. The breakfast had a relatively wide offer. The security guard at the door could get us a really good offer for a taxi (25% compared to without his help, there is very different meter rates for tourists apparently). The location is really central, close to many restaurants and the Medina.

NetherlandsBreakfast very poor. Almost nothing to drink except coffee, you can boil water for yourself for tea (?!) and there is hot milk and some poor juices. No scrambled eggs. Staff at breakfast also poor. Compared to what you get the hotel is a bit overpriced in my opinion.
Nice lively bar in the evening with a mixed crowed. Good terrace on the balcony with fine simple food on the menu. Spacious clean room with large bathroom. Location is great like a 12 min walk to medina and close to the airport (10 minutes by taxi).

United KingdomWhile not too far from the Médina you do feel a bit out of it. Aircon did not work in the room which was not so bad in April but would be a real problem in summer. There was a power cut for a few hours one afternoon.
Nice old fashioned architecture. Big room was well decorated. Breakfast was plentiful.

NorwayThe man in the reception could have been more service minded. We asked him to order a taxi for us to the airport (2:30 am). It costed 60 denars and wasn’t a taxi. The locals pay 10 denars for the same trip. Through the Bolt-app it would cost 16 denars (2:30 am). This wasn’t the best way to end our trip. The wifi was unstable and sometimes very week
Nice and authentic breakfast. Good service, especially by the tall security man. We order food from the bar and they brought it to our room with charging extra, that is good service. Clean rooms!! Hot and nice shower.

PolandThe place is both near and far from the main spots of Tunis. A little shabby surrounding. Also, the hotel needs some investment in renovation, since it has a lot of potential given its history.
