How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewA perfect place to stay with wonderful people and a great breakfast. The reception staff were incredibly supportive. During an emergency when we lost our passport and hotel keys, they helped us get in touch with the place where we had left them. The service at breakfast was also exceptional—everyone put in a lot of effort to make sure everything was delicious and the guests were happy. Warm regards to the owner, Metin, and his team!

Verified reviewWonderful and well equipped apartment, lot of space and a small terrace with a view on Urgup! Car park available in front of the structure and a very nice staff which helped us with activities to be done. They have demonstrated their kindness and availability by cooking me gluten free bread for breakfast. Highly recommended!

The breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and served with a smile, just what we needed to start our day.One of the things we appreciated most was how helpful the hotel staff were in organizing everything for us. We booked our airport transfer, hot air balloon ride, and daily activities like ATV and horseback tours directly through the hotel everything was seamless and stress-free.The staff were incredibly kind and genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. Verified reviewBreakfast was very nice. Quickly cooked and supplied by staff. Much better than the another cave Hotel we stayed at previously. The room was very large, almost an apartment. Had a full size fridge, cooking area and lounge. It has two TV's one in the bedroom and another in the lounge area. There was Netflix and You Tube availability plus other cable network which was great. The bed was extremely comfortable allowing the best sleep and the bathroom was big with a very large bath /Jacuzzi,. The hotel is right near a main road for vehicle transport and only 8 minutes walk to town
Nothing to dislike. Couldn't find anything to dislike about this hotel Would have loved to stay longer

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay at Canyon Cave! Ürgüp is one of my favorite cities, and staying here made it even more special. The view from the property is lovely, the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic – definitely one of the best! The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Although there’s no AC, the room stays cool and comfortable, so I didn’t miss it at all.
My only small concern was that the room wasn’t cleaned, even though I put the "Please Clean Room" sign up. It wasn’t a big issue for me, but a bit more attention to this detail would have been nice.

Verified reviewOverall, the hotel was excellent. Doga spoke good English and was very helpful in making arrangements for us. The breakfast was excellent, the best meal of my day. Views from the roof were very nice.
There is no fault of the hotel, but the walk into town ,especially the uphill return, can be challenging.

Verified reviewThe location overlooking the valley is fantastic, the rooms are beautiful and spacious, and everyone in the staff is extremely courteous, friendly and helpful - all our tours were easily sorted out and booked. Verified reviewThe room size was good, the location was 10-15 mins walk to the centre of Urguo via some pretty steep roads. The room comes with a nice bathtub. If you don’t mind sleeping in the heat, it’s a good place to stay.
Our room had no AC, even though AC was advertised. When we asked to change rooms, the staff informed us none of the rooms has AC. On booking.com every room had AC listed. It felt very dishonest. We slept in a hot room every night and had difficulty sleeping. We also thought the breakfast was lacking, and ended up eating breakfast elsewhere on most days. It’s not a real cave hotel, just a regular hotel with the walls plastered - but it does look nice.
This is a message for our future guests: This guest has given a negative review purely because of his own mistake and requested a refund that we can not give without requesting authorisation from Booking.com. Our listing has never promoted Air Conditioning (AC) as most of the boutique cave rooms in Cappadocia are not allowed to install them. This is to maintain the natural authentic form of the caves. The rooms are real caves in which families have lived in 200 years ago. The main feature with cave rooms are that they stay cool in the summer and keep the heat in the winter. That is why people of Cappadocia have chosen to live in the caves back in the days. We do provide our guests fans for free when requested. Regarding the breakfast, we do provide a Traditional Turkish Breakfast called Serpme Kahvaltı in Turkish. It is a breakfast style that fills up the table with lots of delicious alternatives.
