Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA very minor comment would be that a newer smart TV with netflix would have been appreciated in our room, but we didn't even watch that much TV anyway.
We had an excellent time at D-Resort. After travelling the greater Izmir region for a week, my wife and I were looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy the sun and D-Resort definitely delivered. The breakfast is absolutely excellent, with an enormous array of fresh and tasty produce and dishes - probably the best breakfast I've ever seen in a hotel. The resort is decorated in an extremely tasteful, almost Mexican/Yucatan pinewood style. My wife said that everywhere you go in the resort smells like heaven! The Junior Suite we booked was fantastic - really beautiful and charming views of the ocean and Cunda island in the distance, and very spacious too. The bed was also extremely comfy, we slept like babies the whole duration of our stay :) The staff are who really make D-Resort special though. I have never been to a 5 star hotel or resort before where you have direct Whatsapp communication with the staff. It truly made the experience even more special, as if we needed anything - a pot of Turkish tea delivered to our room, an extra pillow, a taxi to be called and arranged for the evening, or even recommendations for restaurants in the greater Ayvalik area - the staff would instantly respond to us and deliver our requests. Truly breath-taking customer service. I see other customers in the review comments complaining that the sea is too shallow, but to be honest this is just the nature of the area and I don't really think there is anything that D-Resort can do about it. Yes the sea is a little shallow and water is not always turquoise, but this is related to actual nature rather than D-Resort's management. I thought the beach was beautiful, usually quite empty and really felt lucky that it was private to the hotel. Overall we had an incredible time at D-Resort and felt very fortunate to experience such an amazing level of customer service. The hotel, room, views and beach are excellent, but it is the staff that truly make this place special.

AzerbaijanThe sea was not very clear and quite shallow — which makes it suitable for children, but less so for those who enjoy swimming. During our 5-day stay, there was occasionally an unpleasant smell, most likely from seaweed. We also felt that the price was a bit on the high side.
We really enjoyed the quality of service and comfort. The pool was very nice, and the food in the restaurants was tasty.

United StatesNot about the property but it doesn’t have the best sea/swimming experience. The water is very shallow and murky most of the time.
Hospitality is 10/10. Great stuff and service.

RussiaIf I had a few suggestions, they would be as follows: I would recommend adding more local ambient lighting options in the rooms — such as floor or desk lamps — as the current lighting setup feels limited for creating a cozy evening atmosphere. It would also be helpful to install a small hook in the bathroom to hang a hand towel conveniently. As for bedding, while the resort provides a pillow menu, I believe the quality could be raised to the level of premium down pillows, like those used in Sofitel hotels. Such a detail would be fully aligned with the luxury standard of the property. Lastly, I strongly encourage increasing the use of locally sourced ingredients in the restaurant — for example, free-range eggs, pasture-raised poultry, and freshly caught seafood from nearby waters. These additions would not only elevate the culinary experience but also support regional farmers and producers, giving the hotel’s cuisine a richer sense of place and contributing to the local economy.
Cantekin, the General Manager of D-Resort, sets the tone for a stay where genuine warmth meets flawless precision. Staying here feels like stepping into Switzerland – everything is finely tuned like a Swiss watch, yet it unfolds on Turkey’s breathtaking Aegean coast. We stayed in a spacious bungalow: sound‑insulated, comfortable, peaceful. We asked for an extra mattress and received a full, high‑quality one — it transformed our living room into a second bedroom. Every request was met with kindness and care. The food was a highlight: fresh, generous, and soulful. Local fish and ultra‑sweet watermelons were unbelievable delights. Breakfasts with hand‑selected ingredients felt indulgent and heartfelt. Live music over the weekend added warmth without noise. The grounds are immaculate – green lawns, hammocks, clean pathways, and a gently sloping, crystal‑clear beach. The sea breeze is invigorating. If I could suggest one upgrade, it would be natural down pillows like those at Sofitel — to complete the luxury. D‑Resort Ayvalık is among the best resort stays I’ve had, rivaling Park Hyatt Saadiyat. Deep thanks to Cantekin and the team. We’ll return soon.

GermanyOn days when the sea is rough, the water can become quite murky, which can make for a less enjoyable swimming experience. Unfortunately, this is something beyond the hotel’s control, as it’s purely due to natural condition or cleanliness of camping areas near the hotel.
The overall simplicity and comfort of the place make you feel like you’re visiting your grandmother’s summer house, but with the added touch of an experienced team providing top-notch service. The restaurant is exceptional, offering not just typical hotel meals but a true taste of Ayvalık. The dishes were carefully prepared, and at breakfast, the regional olives and cheeses were beautifully presented. The beach is calm and well-maintained, with special services for guests with pets. We’ve experienced pet-friendly services before, like in Switzerland during a ski trip, but D Resort truly stands out as a pet-friendly hotel. One minor issue we encountered was that areas designated for guests with pets during breakfast and by the beach were sometimes taken by other guests who found those spots appealing. I don’t know why 😁 However, the staff quickly resolved the issue by finding us a new place. The service quality is top-notch, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The sea is warm, and the sandy beach is perfect for families with young children. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the bungalows come with large gardens and balconies, providing a refreshing and open atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place where you can swim peacefully, avoid large crowds, listen to the sound of the sea, and enjoy a gentle breeze without being overwhelmed by noise or crowded activities, this is the perfect spot. It’s an ideal, peaceful retreat for families with little paws.

United Arab EmiratesThere is nothing that we disliked at all.
We travelled with two pets, a cat and a dog, we were upgraded to a bungalow from a standard room without any extra charges and we were amazed by how the staff arranged two separate beds for the cat and the dog along with all the needed accessories. The food was exceptional to the extent that we had to take with us in boxes as a takeaway. Rooms were very clean, staff are very professional, friendly and ready to help. We loved it and will definitely go back.
