Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandSome desk staff unhelpful. Shower a little ramshackle. I had to leave early for a ferry and though I asked wasn’t given anything to take with me for breakfast.
Best breakfast ever. The choice is incredible and absolutely delicious. Lovely old hotel run by father and daughter.Area looks sketchy initially but is totally safe.

DenmarkNothing not to like.
We visited the hotel in the middle of the week, in the middle of Ramazan and in the middle of March, and we seemed to be the only guests. The hotel has a perfect location in one of the old parts of Ayvalik, with plenty of shops and restaurants around. No traffic to mention and quiet. Close to the coastal main street and old harbour with good public communication and access to taxi. The old soap factory is beautifully restored to a modern standard and still keeping the genuine atmosphere very well. We had a double room on the top floor with a small roof terrace with beatiful views over the town, the hills and the sea. The room and the bathroom had a good size, it was clean and comfortable. Even in the sudden cold weather the heating worked well. The staff was friendly and we want to thank the director, Mr. Engin very much for his interesting stories about the place and renovation.

IrelandMight not be the best option for someone with wheelchairs.
The hotel is at the old town of Ayvalik. The buses to Cunda and Sarimsakli are just a minute away. Lots of cute coffee and ceramic shops are 5-10 mins walk. The hotel architecture is really cool, the rooms are very clean, all staff are so helpful, kind and positive. And their breakfast are just another level, so so good.

GermanyNothing-
I had to find a calm, safe, clean and central place for 2 nights. This hotel was the first and only one in Ayvalik replying my emails immediately and responding my questions before booking. The hotel has met all my expectations. Everything was clean. From the first moment the staff was very kind. Not to forget that the Turkish breakfast was generous. We'll go back there again.

AustraliaStaff could have been more welcoming. No top sheet? Bathroom is tiny but the marble and fittings make up for it. Not sure I would have liked staying here in summer.
We loved the charm of this very old building (a soap factory) and the antique fittings and furniture. Dinner was fabulous but we had a Turkish guide who could order for us. Definitely try the sizzling octopus.

United StatesTravelers with physical limitations should note that the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so be prepared to climb the stairs, which are not very well lit at night. In fact, lighting in the room was weak, making it a challenge to read or deal with contact lenses, etc.
Very nice hotel with friendly, attentive staff. Location is convenient for exploring the historic old town with its many cafes, restaurants and shops. We also enjoyed several nice dinners at the Iyimis Meyhane restaurant located at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was excellent, offering many options and a few different items each day.

South AfricaWe had a fantastic experience right in the heart of old town Ayvalik in this authentic hotel. Incredibly helpfull and friendly staff as well. I would recomend this hotel always! They have a Turkish restaurant with lovely live music as well. If you drive yourself, just phone them 5 min before you are in Ayvalik. They will organise to meet you and assist in navigating you to the hotel. This is important as old town Ayvalik has very narrow alleyways and you do not want to end up navigating on your own.

AustraliaThe hotel is well located, within east walking distance to restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarket. The staff were exceptional! Very friendly and so helpful at all times, particularly by accompanying us to the closest car park, navigating the exceptionally narrow streets and then taking all our luggage to the hotel. Upon our departure, they again took our luggage to the car, moved the car to facilitate an easier exit

South AfricaThe shower enclosure was not ideal for water displacement and the shower head needed replacement and or adjustment.
Good dinner available even though we arrived at 22H00. They restaurant had live music which added to the ambience. Happily the music did not disturb hotel guests. Room was comfortable. Good breakfast selection. Hotel and restaurant staff all very attentive although not many locals speak English. Google translate came in handy.
