How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA very special place, experience the cave bed here! The breakfast here is delicious! I waited here for three days and took a hot air balloon before leaving, so lucky!

Verified reviewThe breakfast was amazing. Big Turkish breakfast with homemade eggs each day. The location was great, just a very short walk from the bus station.
No one was in the hostel when I arrived to check in and no one was monitoring the whatsapp number they had on the desk. Had to leave and come back a couple hours later. There were only two toilets and showers for the whole place. One of the three sinks was broken. Dirty sheets were on the stairs to walk on. No place to put your things (shelves) and the 4 bed female only dorm hardly had room for anything but the beds. The outlet for my bed didn't work the second night. Not really a cave, just a dark basement. Everything smelled damp and musty. Also was double charged for my room.

Verified reviewI didn't have the chance to enjoy.
I didn't have the chance to enjoy it because I simply wasn't greeted by anyone at reception, and I had to sleep on the reception couch in the company of the guard dog who was the only one who welcomed me at check-in . Lack of consideration for the customer, doesn't respond to calls, messages, with incorrect opening hours on Booking, a lack of respect. And in the end, not even an apology, and that I would have to resolve the refund with Booking. An attitude that reveals a lack of professionalism and not knowing how to put oneself in the shoes of someone who cannot sleep.

Verified reviewThe location was great and the staff was nice.
I got a bed in the lower side of hunk bed which is so small. I couldn’t even sit properly in the bed. So its better to make sure you are getting a bed in the top. Also a lower bed does not give you the feel of sleeping in a cave hostel. The breakfast was mediocre.

Verified reviewLocation is excellent. Value is reasonable for what it is.
Staff are extremely unhelpful. Asked for assistance with things three times and was completely ignored each time. Each time they nodded to confirm I wanted help and then just never got back to me with anything completely ignoring my requests.

Verified review4-bed female dorm was lovely. Pretty cool staying in the cave. Close to the bus station and centre of town. Staff were lovely and breakfast was spectacular, different meals each day.
2 toilet/shower combo shared between all rooms so there is often a line and very mouldy

Verified reviewThe location is perfect. Homemade delicious breakfast. The hiking tour with the staff from the hostel was amazing!
The only thing missing is the number of toilet in the hostel. There is only 2 toilet shared by 20 people. If they can improve that, it will be perfect!

Verified reviewlocation: only a couple minutes walk from the intercity bus station the breakfast: perfect for loading up for your day hiking, touring of whatever in Cappadocia friendly staff who's always willing to help and the atmosphere in general
limited bathroom facilities, with only 2 showers shared among 20 people at its peak (and one of the showers did not work! I hope it's fixed soon) the lighting is really dark, given that the dorms were in a cave, but it may make (un)packing suitcases difficult I myself booked a bunk bed space in the 4 female dorm room, which is tiny... the pictures shown by the hostel were mainly of the mixed dorm part, so go for it if space is a concern ventilation may also be a concern, with occasional musty smells also, if only a shared kitchen space could be provided for guests...

Verified reviewThe location is very close to everything, walkable and near to the bus station
Staying in the dorm room, there is very little lightning, basically you can't even see if you have drop anything because there is no bed lamp and the carpets are very dusty. The dorm is very hot as well, not air circulation which I understand "caves".
