Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing. An excellent staycation.
I loved that the venue is secluded and literally on the beach. I admire its authenticity and wooden effect. The property is surrounded by trees which adds a naturist element to it. The property is on the beach, you’ll wake up to the sound of birds and the sea.

NetherlandsNot much, although if it's windy/stormy bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
We got upgraded to "Alibabas Cottage", a more secluded and private hut above the main house. Beautiful location, silent, open structure in the middle of nature. All the tropical birds will visit given you have some sugar or cheese. Owner responds to requests instantly, snorkeling gear is present to swim with the stingrays, and drivers and excursion on request.

Trinidad and TobagoAlthough the village was not far I didn’t like the walk up to the village because the walkway was a little steep but we got to see the same people who were really friendly by the third or fourth day I got used to the walk.
I loved that the beach was just downstairs and everything that you wanted was so close by.We had our own little kitchen where we were able to cook for ourselves. All kitchen utensils were sparkling. Everything was very well looked after. When we didn’t want to cook we had a five minute walk to two superb breakfast places in the village. The food was lovely.

Trinidad and TobagoFor the price, I can't complain. No major issues with the accommodation, but the surrounding village is a limited in food choices and activities.
My wife and I stayed 2 nights. Beautiful nature. Secluded location. Not much businesses around but if you are there for unbroken sounds of the sea and solitude from the rush, this is a hidden gem.

Trinidad and TobagoThe apartment was clean, but my friend and I did notice a sort of musty smell in the corridor area. Hopefully the host can see this and try to take care of it if possible for future guests! But do note that inside the apartment you don't get the musty smell.
The host, amenities and location were excellent. I enjoyed that there was private access to the eastern side of Castara Beach (not sure if this is what's referred to as Little Bay Beach!). I loved that there was a balcony overlooking the same beach, with beautiful morning and sunset views.

United StatesThe heat & humidity are real. The fans help a little, but air conditioning was most definitely missed. We were also very disappointed that almost every restaurant in Castara was closed. Don't travel in August, apparently.
All of the units have an ocean view over the bay. There are trees filled with birds and you can enjoy the fireflies from the balcony in the evenings.

United KingdomExcellent location and beautiful views. Just a few steps and you are on the beach with great swimming and snorkeling on the reef. Rays come close to shore everyday. Apartment has everything you need to self cater but also restaurant very close by if you don't fancy cooking. Host was very responsive and helpful with lots of suggestions and advice on hiring car etc. Highly recommended

United KingdomAs I’ve said above we loved it and were happy without a/c and brand new decor. Very comfortable bed and new fridge and oven
The location is hard to describe and do it justice. Beautiful small beach, incredible snorkelling, lovely people and the constant sound of waves. Stephanie and Alibaba are the best hosts, there when you want them, ready with a smile and chat but happy to leave you alone also. If you are looking for unpretentious, laid back and real Tobago then Castara is for you. If you are looking for the shiny, shiny 5 star then it may not suit you. We loved it and have returned just about as relaxed as I can remember. Just a brilliant holiday and escape from our normal life. Thankyou!

OmanThere is no AC but this is not needed, we didn't even use the fan at night.
We stayed in Trumpet Tree (a small seperate cottage), just above the other rooms, but the same idea and facilities. It had a large comfortable bed and a great outdoor kitchen and seating area with fantastic views across Castara Bay. Stephanie and Alibaba were very friendly and helpful. The little beach below has really good snorkeling along the rocks and around the corner. Definitely recommend.

BelgiumThere are many hills to climb so you must be in a good condition to climb, I was not so I had a bit of differculty and also not enought good restaurants. I ate at a few very pricy restaurants but the food was terrible. I ended up buying fresh fish and cooking it myself
The location is wonderful, you hear the sound of the ocean all night long. There is nature all around and you feel the beauty and wonder of it.

United KingdomIt wasn't a problem for us but Castara itself is very hilly and there are steps everywhere.

United KingdomIt is difficult to access with the car! and at night is difficult to see the signs to the accommodation, but everybody around was helpful to send us in the right way. But I guess it is the price to pay for beautiful views...
Very comfortable room with amazing views to the bay. You sleep with the sound of the waves crushing the beach, it is idyllic! Also the room have a very good size, including the bathroom, kitchen and big balcony.

United StatesMy fault for not seeing that AC was not listed as an amenity. Mega floor fan helped but still was too hot in genera in mid Oct. The sound of the sea made up for it. Bed netting helped but I never saw or heard or experienced a single mosquito and they love me like I'm an all you can eat buffet. Below are meant as advice and insight into the area esp. if going off season: 1. You're in da bush so must expect accordingly! Example 1: Sitting on balcony at night and day is very nice but at night, bats will swoop and fly around just above the railing. So I kept flashlight on phone to deter. Love nature and birds and appreciate bats but was a little too close even though they never came for me. Example 2: Moths come inside as much as I tried to keep lights off at night. They chill on the walls but don t bother you. Maybe another giant flying bug too 😆. 2. Driving and arriving: don't drive at night unless you don't mind tons of hairpin turns and windy roads with zero lights...or at least not at night until you get used to the roads/trip during day! Need good directions to skip the first Bay rd you see which Google maps sends you to and take Depot Road. We were told to take Depot road by owner not what Google maps says which was good but Depot Rd is not marked on Google maps so wasn t sure where it was exaclty arriving at night but knew it was close based on map s locarion of the place. So we did the right thing and skipped Bay rd (first one we saw coming from airport) and next was Depot. That road goes down and has bad potholes and is best for a 4×4...we had a sedan that got scraped on the left bottom chassis if you didn t take the super wide angle basically into oncoming traffic lane if no car is coming. 3. Being there "off season" meant nearby places may be closed on specific days and nights.
Was there Oct 2022 in off season. Beautiful setting. Bubgalow is a good size (we were 2). Just relax on the gorgeous wooden balcony in nice wooden Adirondack chairs with a drink and hear the sound of the waves crashing morning, noon and night! Can bird from the balcony too! Hummingbirds fly up to check you out which is quite a sight! They fly around the trees and make their pretty sounds, and another common bird comes to feed from the hanging feeder. Beach and water are clean. Enjoyed shallow water no too-strong currents, and no gravel unlike other beaches that make you crash to hit gravel needing watershoes. But preferred other beaches like Parlatuvier Bay 10min drive away. Thurs night there was a bonfire one beach over (the larger one you can see from balcony) around 9 pm and some music but we didn't venture there as would prefer to drive than the arduous hike uphill etc. but we were not up for the drive either. No music was playing late late like sleeping time, so no issues there.

NetherlandsThe location was absolutely stunning, the host was super friendly and accommodating. The locals nearby are also super friendly, always ready for a chat. The mosquito net on the bed was a huge plus as there can be quite a few bugs. The kitchen is also fully equipped with all items and there is a big fridge. The room service is every 3 days which was very good too!
