How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful place in Speyside. The views were absolutely stunning, and the gardens, along with the surrounding wildlife, made it even more special. The host was incredibly sweet and friendly, making us feel right at home. The place was spotless, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We would highly recommend this place and would love to return in the future!

Verified reviewProperty is on quite a long stretch of steps up a steep driveway. But that gives you a nice view over to the other islands. Room was clean and comfortable with TV. AC microwave and kettle.Although to use these items, you have to constantly unplug something to use the two outlets that are readily available in the room. Mrs. ann , the owner was very nice and accommodating when I needed to borrow her phone charger since mine got smashed in the metal door.
Things that are particularly beyond her control. Such as having the landscaping done the full day I stayed in my room, having chickens squawking starting at 4 o'clock in the morning and other loud birds making me wake up before. I wanted to, neighbors. playing loud music. The property itself was just fine. The only thing I and other people seem to not like about it was if you wanted to go up-and-down to the town. You have to go up-and-down all these steps and go down around a bend at the intersection. Although the other girl staying there said she found a bunch of steps down near the bottom that would have cut out the bend and came more directly up to the street. We were on that. I didn't know about. I only went down there once and then it started pouring rain and I came back up later. And never went down again. There's also limited if any parking and if you have a car you'd have to park on the street with every. One else. My biggest complaint has to be that on the booking website months ago that there was airport shuttle, it says free twice on the website. And I booked it thinking I could get a ride from the Scarborough ferry up 2 the place and then back over to THE Airport where I was staying after and this is not true when I pointed that out to her and she acted like she didn't know anything. About it well when you set up the website on booking.com. You're supposed to look it over and change anything on there . That's wrong and since I booked it months and months ago. It's been on there like that misleading people into thinking they have. At least a one way free ride to the property. And it's not true. It actually cost me the same price. $110 US to go from the ferry up to the property and then take another taxi down to THE Airport area where I was staying, which was the exact amount I paid for 2 nights to stay at the property. So I was running out of cash because no taxi drivers on Trinidad or Tobago will take a credit...

Verified reviewSpacious room. The owner was very kind. Beautiful view on the sea and the forest. Sitting on the small terrace it was nice to watch the birds in the forest surrounding the village.
The lamps in the room were not too good. Eg not a lamp by the bedside. That made the room not so cosy at night. Also it is a very steep climb from the road to the house. The owner kindly helped me by driving my suitcase uphill. But anyone who's not good on foot should take this into consideration

Verified reviewThe host was very hospitable and accommodating with our needs regardless of the time of the day. The venue was very nice, it looked way better than the pictures currently posted online which is a plus. The scenery and the tranquility was exceptional. The rooms were clean and beds were quite comfortable.
A mini mart would be a plus onsite.

Verified reviewVery clean. White cotton sheets and white towels. Decent beds. Great shower - roomy and easy to adjust. Air conditioning very effective. Windows had insect screens. Distant sea view from little balcony. Can see humming birds in an adjacent property from lower down, not from the balcony. We had help to move luggage. Toilet paper provided was better than the cheap thin paper provided in other Tobago properties. Wifi worked quite adequately for us. Washing machine available and clothes line with pegs. Good sixed fridge freezer in kitchen.
The property is reached via a very steep access, with a corrugated type surface to improve grip. There are a lot of variable height steps at one side but as you have to cross the very steep slope to get to the entrance you need footwear with a great grip. No working tv. Dog kennel a few metres away and the dog barked quite a lot. Even if you are not a dog lover it may distress you to see/hear how long it is locked in. We only wanted to boil an egg and open the odd bottle but the kitchen did not appear to be very well equipped. You will not want to try that slope with a normal car so you park on the road wherever you can, usually no shade.
