How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewQuiet charming place with great ocean views and cute cats. The electric scooter rental shop recommended by our host took our luggage to/from the property. So I highly recommend to follow their advices.
Must rent a scooter to fully appreciate the stay at Begin Inn. But it’s not a bad thing, it’s a fun plus.

While the property has a great view the location is pretty far from any sort of restaurant, bar or food establishment. You definitely need to rent a scooter or motorbike to stay here and be comfortable to drive it in the dark to go get dinner. We had some trouble with either being told we couldn’t use the WiFi until check in time which is weird or either it wasn’t working (could’ve been caused by recent typhoon) but was unclear with the language barrier.

Verified reviewThe place is amazing. The room are squeaky clean, great view of the sunset. The owners took time to design a great patio for people to hang out any time. Yuly (if I got the name right) was extra helpful and helped us with transferring the luggages, providing resources for the restaurants and even went so far as to let us transfer money to her via Paypal to get cash (because we were too careless and did not bring any cash and there was no international ATM on the island). I would highly recommend!

Verified reviewThere are so many outside areas where you can hang out or watch the sunset. You can have your own space or chat to other guests. The views from Begin Inn are exeptional. I can’t think of a better place to catch the sunset. The owner, Yuly, is a true positive life force. Seeing her laughing, smiley face in the morning started each day on a high. The coffees are absolutly delicious, as is the breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Verified reviewThe location was beautiful. Away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful view of the ocean. Rooms were small, but well-appointed and comfortable. Outdoor area was fantastic for relaxing, and there was a spinner for drying suits as well as a clothesline to completely dry them. The hosts were great. I highly recommend.

Verified reviewThe lady who owns the hotel is really nice, accomodating and welcoming. The spot is perfect, super chill and calm, with an amazing view on the sea and the sunset. It is a small hotel, so pretty quiet and secluded. The included breakfast was tasty. I'd definitely come back

Verified reviewFriendly and helpful staff (it was nice that we were offered a choice to pay with PayPal, as we are running out of cash and there is a general problem with money withdrawal using non-Taiwanese bank card in Liuchiou, can only do that in the Taiwan mainland), the interior/ exterior design, clean and well maintained facilities, awesome public spaces for chilling, a quiet place which one can enjoy the serene atmosphere; close to the Venice Beach and good for sunset watching (walking distance)

Verified reviewThe Inn only approves that doing lots of researches on GoogleMap and review-checks on Booking.com pay off! What a great place for staying on the island. We could see the sea directly from our room, and the whole decor is amazing, in the room and in the common areas. The common areas offer places for guests to sit, drink, and enjoy the seaview. At night with the lights on, it became a romantic place for couples to chill. Room is with all necessities, and extra clean for our standard. Breakfast was freshly made by the owner, who is super friendly and nice on treating her guests. It can be catered as Gluten-free if you ask the owner for the options.
The AC started to deliver some smells after certain on-time. I would say it's from the filter but it's fine since AC was not really necessary in the season we visited.
