As the King Mountain View room is facing west the room was super warm when we arrived checking in 3pm. Advised the staff to assist guest in either turning on the aircon or close the curtains in advance to cool the room down before guest check-in. Our room had the curtain open for show of the scenery and took us a couple of hours to cool down after turning on the aircon. If not for this I would have awarded Exceptional rating of this facility. As majority of shops in Jiufen start operating late morning, there is nothing to walk around for in the early morning so book room with breakfast or prepare your own. There is a 7-Eleven and Family Mart out of and near the entrance of the shopping street.

Booked a King Room with Mountain View and it was really spacious, with view of the exterior mountains. Max occupants can be expanded to maximum 5 paxs. This room however is located at higher floors so bring light bag instead of large heavy luggage though the stairs are nicely done concrete and not too narrow to navigate. Some other rooms as I research are either small or without windows. The facility is located right at the shopping street about 3mins walk from the Jiufen shopping street entrance so this is the best you can get since you can easily get back to the entrance to start off your shopping walk from start to end. The facility is easily identifiable (see photos of entrance). Entering the facility leads to their restaurant on the ground floor. Services from very attentive staffs are splendid and each customer get a welcome drinks while waiting for them to get ready and lead customer to the room. Guest get 5% discount on food and drinks at the restaurant. The facility has a quiet hours policy between 10pm to 8am so this allows a restful night and is magnetic access lock between 9pm to 8am for security control. Guest can still exit and return to the facility during those hours via latch release from inside and access card from outside. Note that it is cash payment only so prepare for that. To reach Jiufen we took a train from Taipei Main Station (臺北車站) (buy tickets at staffed counter) travelling less than 40mins to Ruifang Train Station (瑞芳車站). From there we walked to a nearby bus stop (near a local Police Station) (check with railway station staff for direction) where we took their local bus 788 or 965 (every 30mins at NT15) for less than 20mins to Jiufen. Seat near the bus driver and request for alert to alight when reaching Jiufen. Alternatively, take a cab or ride. We took their local bus (an hour) from Jiufen directly to Taipei City. Check on Google Map for bus and stops in Taipei City.

The shower area in the washroom is rather inconvenient as there's no partition between the shower area and the wash basin.

The location is simply perfect coz its conveniently located inside Jiufen old street, staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great. The welcome drinks upon arrival are also superb. The food served at the cafe is simply delicious...many varieties to choose from. The room is generally ok .

Not a real criticism but as Westerners we found the breakfast food not to our taste, but we are in Asia.

Room (s) were very small, in the market, i guess space is tight. Bathrooms were fine, but the shower was a little too tight.

Location is excellent, right in the market (can be a little noisy). The greeting by staff was excellent too. The whole building has real character. Rooms were clean and modern (which was not expected having seen the hallways) with comfortable beds.

Not convenient for travellers with young kids and big luggage, not accessible by car. Have to walk a distance to reach. No fantastic view as compared to other homestay (need to walk further way up to reach).

The only problem was the start of some mold in the corner of our room under the wallpaper. My advice, check your room first. No one else mentioned it in reviews so I’m guessing it’s a new problem that’s bloomed with the upcoming wet humid weather.

Perfect location and the cafe has a window seat that’s amazing for people watching. There’s delicious illy coffee if you’re tired of tea. Our room was Japanese inspired with beds on the floor that were quite comfortable and it was very spacious. The bathroom is tiny but clean. We found the staff very helpful and accommodating.

hotel is very well located in the main street were Jiufen journey can start with atmosphere daily and nightly. Restaurant is part of the B&B and convenient to eat with enjoyable food. The breakfast was a little skimpy.

Having the hotel located on a corner within the touristy walkway made it easy to access the shops and enter the room to avoid the crowds. The breakfast was plated with a nice presentation. Staff were very friendly. I was glad the hotel gave a heads-up that there was no elevator but stairs.

The only thing that i didnt like was that the bathroom heater had a 1 hour timer, so you would constantly need to turn it back on.

The hotel was in the heart of jiufen old street which gave you access to the beautiful street at all times, especially before the buses drop off their large, mindless tour groups to quickly ruin the atmosphere. The room was spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. The view of the mountain and sea was beautiful. The hotel was quiet considering its location— though some noise from guests could be heard when entering snd existing their rooms. The bathroom was nice with the heater, the shower was also pleasant. The room was clean. Over all i enjoyed my stay and would recommend it. Ps.I ate a bowl of their beef noodles in the restaurant down stairs, which i would highly recommend.

The view from the room with balcony is exceptional but it rained throughout our stay there so we didn't have a chance to sit in balcony. We had to climb quite a few floors to reach our room so the elderly may wish to choose rooms on lower floors.
