How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff upgraded our room for free. It was very spacious and had a big bathroom and dressing room. The staff was very kind and the hot bath was amazing. I also liked the japanese style tatami mats.
There were no windows in the room. The shuttle service is only till 10 pm.

Verified reviewI enjoyed the onsen so much. And also, deep appreciation to the driver who suggested that I grab dinner beforehand as there are not many dinner options in walking distance from the hotel, then give the hotel a call when I needed picking up from Carrefour. Hotel pre-dropped my luggage in my room. Very thoughtful. Then on the day I checked out, I left my bags with the hotel for safe keeping, and went hiking in Yangmingshan, fell and got injured, so by the time I made it back down the mountain I was very tired. The staff kindly ferried my bags to Xinbeitou MRT where I was at. Caring and Great service I would stay here again! And the onsen water was great.
No lift, get used to stairs. There was a foul cigarette smell when I entered the hotel. But ok to ignore after I moved away from the lobby. Walls are thin so you do hear abit of noise from neighbouring guests.

Verified reviewThe onsen was very nice and the location was not too far off from the train station. The room was okay and the bed surprisingly comfortable. The theme of the place was very cozy.
The lack of hot water in the shower wasn't so nice, also the feng shui of our room (with the bed facing the door) wasn't so comforting. There are some signs that the hotel is a little run down, but not too bad.

Verified reviewVery spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful.
There was no lift to the room and we had to climb several flights of stairs up. This should have been flagged out in the hotel description as guests might have difficulty with stairs.

Verified reviewExcellent location - free shuttle to Xin Beitou as many times as you like. Very worth the cost to get Premier room to have your open air hot spring and savor the green sulphur, milky white thermal water. I stayed in room 306 located directly below their hotel sign - see picture. Complimentary 24 hour auto coffee grind machine in lobby and bottled water as well. Staff friendly and accommodating, English spoken. Family run hotel with great 'feel'. Several temples within walking distance as well as a family mart for convenience store items, Would return.

Verified reviewDefinitely booking for both the accommodation and the over all hot spring experience. Absolutely loved the vibe, the people and the facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed hot spring facility especially the in room semi open air room. I also left my phone in the hotel bathroom and it was returned to me by staff. Definitely a trustworthy staff.
The breakfast was a true local experience but did not sit quite well with most of us. Although there are jams and breads included in the spread, a majority of the offerings are local cuisine breakfast so take note of this prior to booking. But this isn’t really an issue, but rather a point of preference. It was still over all great!

Verified review1. The location of the hotel is perfectly situated at a corner of New Beitou that is away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. 2. The free shuttle van service is really helpful as it can ferry you to different places. I asked the driver for breakfast recommendations and he dropped me off at this store near the metro station. The driver was really friendly! 3. The room design is inspired by Japanese traditional homes. It gives off a very warm feeling. 4. The hot spring water from the taps are naturally derived. The hot spring tub is big and provides a relaxing experience.
1. The staircases leading up to the rooms are quite old and narrow. Visitors with big luggage might need to request help from the hotel staff to carry it upstairs. 2. The room that I initially stayed in had a wasp and the hotel staff would prefer it to fly away to the nature by its own. So, the hotel staff upgraded my room at no cost at all! I understand their concern for wildlife conservation and honestly felt relieved that they did not kill the wasp. 3. The hot water supply at the shower room does not seem to work. But my solution to that was to use the hot spring water to shower, so it was all good.

Verified reviewThe ambience can be improved with modern furnishing and deco. Onsen bath was good for my 1st 3 days. On my last day, a big cockroach died in the onsen bath. Flies were in the room. Room has 3 windows but none can be opened. Only plus points are friendly staff and shuttle service to xinbeitou mrt.
