How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewCleanliness. Location. After forgetting our only key card, they quickly and uncomplicatedly took care of the matter. Since they knew our favourite tea (we've been provided three different ones every day), they gave us a bunch of that one as a goodbye. We were allowed to use their fridge, and filtered drinking water was free.
Right after arriving, the hostess sat me down and handed over a piece of paper with a list of rules for the accommodation, and after that another one stating how much I can be fined if I stain her mattress, explicitly referring to menstruation blood. This made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable for the next three days. No previous accommodation has ever done that. The rules hang on room door anyway. It's not how you greet your guests. The room and the bed were too small for two people. In the bathroom, the shower was semi-open, leading to a wet floor after showering. The tap was located too close to the back of the basin, making washing hands awkward.

Verified reviewUnexpected stay to wait for Krathon typhoon to pass by. Booked 2 nights initially and could extend 2 more to brace for typhoon impact in Kaohsiung. Very welcoming owners, good breakfast for few additional fee, and helped with lunch and laundry during this unexpected stay! Will definitely consider as a good basecamp for my next time in Kaohsiung with hopefully much better weather!

Verified reviewThe wall painting are good spots for photo. I really appreciate the pillows since I got stiff neck from the previous staying. I stay for 3 night, and we went to the beach. There were also laundry that I could clean my clothes. Couple are really nice and helpful, we have nice chats and it really feels like going home.
Too comfort that I would like to stay in the room longer.

the partition in shower area cannot isolate the water very much that make the bathroom wet. But overall is a happy stay.

Verified reviewThis was an extremely clean and comfortable place to stay for me and my mom. Melody treated us very well and ensured our whole journey in Kaohsuing was well-informed and cared for. Homestay was also close to many restaurants.
Wasn't much to eat for breakfast, but that's okay - plenty of great options a walk or an Uber away.

No car access. Got to park car on street parking, hopefully you get one near hotel.

Verified reviewI had a lovely stay in Kaohsiung at this BnB, and Melody was an absolutely wonderful host. My room was extremely clean and thoughtfully decorated with beautiful murals throughout. Melody really went above and beyond giving me pointers to local food, attractions, and provided a delicious breakfast. The location is also convenient next to the orange line MRT, the light rail, and the ferry. Without a doubt she made my first visit to Kaohsiung flawless and I would stay here again anytime in a heartbeat.

Verified reviewThe rooms were very artsy and tastefully decorated. The beds are very comfortable, and the toilet and bath is amply sized, with soft water flowing through the fine showerhead. The space is small but every nook is well used, and I love the fact that there is a common kitchen, a rooftop lounging area, and an elevator for your big bags. The location is very near Pier 2, this the artsy vibe. The price is very reasonable, and I love the fact that you leave your shoes in the lobby area and replace your footwear with slippers. Melody, the housekeeper, was very helpful and communication with her via WhatsApp was super efficient. Value for money all throughout! Very impressive!
