The location was a bit far from the city centre. The ubike stands were far from the house. We need to parked the ubike at the park and walked around 10 minutes through dark alley to the house at midnight.

It was a private room with private bathroom. It has lift. There's a 7-E around the house.

We had to swap batteries in our AC remotes because the set in one room had died, and through the gap where our above-door fan would have been, we could hear our neighbours enjoying each other quite…enthusiastically. (Street noises were not an issue though.)

Nearby parking, easy check in and the convenient was close to convenience stores. The bed was firm (which in my partner’s eyes is a plus).

Very good customer service. Very old building. The room looks just like this picture. It was extremely clean. It had towels and coffee and toothbrush and soap already in the room so that was well thought out. It seems like an old dorm room or hotel room. Mattress was not terrible. The sheets and comforter were very clean as was the rest of the room! I'm normally in a hostel to save money but coming back into town at the last minute this was all I could get. Very helpful staff at getting into the building.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like because I got what I paid for.

It was cheap and suited me for 2 nights. Everything else was booked out and prices inflated as it was a long weekend due to the Tomb Festival. It is an old apartments type building but had things like a fridge and kettle. I have stayed in other Hotels in Taiwan that were more expensive and had no fridge or a kettle. Another thing Hotels in Taiwan seem to lack is an iron and ironing board. Maybe ironing ones clothes isn't a big thing there?? The place is not far from a train line but it didn't affect me. The guy who runs the place spoke enough English to understand and was helpful with a quick and smooth check-in.

There is no way to check in without a local phone number (and this is not explicitly stated on the booking.com listing). When you arrive there is a sign in Chinese on the building with the host's number, and he only sets out to meet you after you call. We did not have a local number - just by sheer luck the neighbors happened to pass by and kindly agreed to help us call. We waited for about 30 minutes in front of the building until the host arrived and let us in. (Note this happened even though we specified our arrival time on booking.com) The wifi did not work. We tried to let the host know through the booking.com messaging platform, but again - he only communicates via local mobile calls. I only received a response message on booking.com after we had checked out, saying "the internet company will come to check it tommorow". The location is quite far from the city center, with only one infrequent bus line that stops within reasonable walking distance. There is no place to dispose of your trash. There is even a sign on the wall stating that you must take care of your own trash or else you are subject to a fine. The water temperature in the shower can only be adjusted in discreet jumps, such that it is either lukewarm or scalding hot. There is no drinking water available. There are various unidentified smudges of dirt on the walls and floor. The walls are very thin and have actual holes in them for ventilation, so you can hear all the chatter from neighboring rooms. With all the issues I've stated, you would probably assume this is a budget accommodation. It is not. It costs more than twice as much as comparable accommodations in other cities. The host takes advantage of low availability on weekends and bumps up the price, but the value you end up getting as a guest is still extremely low.

The room is spacious. Bed comfort was okay.

The A/C in the room seems to be a bit loud when the compressor starts, probably due to the age of the machine itself.

The bed was comfortable and with enough space. Come along with toiletries supplement.

There is no reception or staff in the hotel (which is more an apartment complex). They don’t reply on booking messages and you need to call if you want to check in, which was difficult for us because we don’t have a Taiwanese sim card. The beds are very very hard! I can usually sleep anywhere, but this was really uncomfortable. The curtains are not blocking the light. I think it was because of CNY that the room was this expensive. Usually I would say the quality didn’t meet the price.

The rooms are very big.

Sending email to them but never reply, Keep waiting at entrance for awhile, No toilet paper, The old air-conditioning sounded very noisy made me could not sleep, I stayed at 7th and owner said wifi only provide at 2nd floor. They did not explain to me when and where to have breakfast they should provide. If I knew no wifi service at room, I would never stay again. They charged T999, it does not worth

Starting with the location. It is hard to find. You need to call a Taiwanese Phone number in order to get someone to open the main door for you and to let you in. It feels more like a home stay than a hotel. When we booked it, it was horribly overpriced for what we got (same price of a decent hotel). No service. Room was very tiny, the shower had dangerous wires hanging around and just isolated with tape. Never ever again.

I felt compelled to write this review, to help anyone looking for a place to stay in Chiayi. Worst experience ever. The check in was a nightmare, the room is quite disorganized. Really not worth price. When I checked in, the staff instead of helping, was keenly asking if I could give them 4 stars review so that I could get a discount in my next stay. Which I couldn’t do.

Apartment is very basic, just a hard bed in a room. Because it was a busy time I paid about 4 times the normal price, there was very little else available. Lights didn't work properly, holes in the wall in the bathroom... You get the picture. I only stayed there because it was the only option.
