Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIf you take a cab to Jiufen, make sure they follow the signage that directs where the building is, as Google Maps will take you to the building in FRONT of it. Getting up there can be quite steep so be mindful of how much luggage you’re bringing with you (and wear the right shoes!)
The interior is stunning! The room with double beds is really spacious, it’s clean, and there are free snacks and instant noodles available in your room. It’s a pretty good location considering it’s at the bottom of old street, so if you want to take the bus to Ruifang or Houtong it’s easier than the other stays that are scattered across Jiufen. While the staff don’t speak English, the lady who runs the b&b was so friendly and sweet.

SingaporeIt was quite a walk up to jiufen old street with steep slopes and many stairs but that is generally how Jiufen is build, be prepared to climc steps. It was still manageable for us but I’d imagined it being tedious and demanding for some older folks, young children or in situation when you have a stroller, it’s going to tougher.
Modern design, very clean and we love the spacious toilet with duo sinks, a bath tub and a shower area. The host was very friendly and warm. The stay and room was perfect for our family!

JapanIt was a little difficult to find at first. There is a sign on the street pointing up a long staircase but that wasn’t correct. Then we tried the bottom door that said Jiufen 35 but that was to the host main house and the older woman thought we were looking for a different BnB. We called and the gentleman greeted us around the corner from the bottom front entrance was the hotel entrance. Once that was sorted everything else was great! FYI, you need to have cash to pay for the room which you can pull out at the Family Mart.
This property was very clean, modern and comfortable. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the location was in a quiet spot with a 5 min walk to old town up some stairs. I really liked the host and enjoyed our conversation about basketball. The family that run the hotel are very sweet and try to make you feel at home. The bedroom was big and the bathroom was very nice with a large shower. It was also nice that the room came with toiletries and complimentary snacks and beverages.

MalaysiaThe main bed area of the room was a little too tight for 3 people as there is not much of a space for luggage and it seems that the blanket can't really store heat very well (it went cold even just after I went to the bathroom for 3 mins), and there is no lift in the homestay which is not that friendly for those who can't climb stairs, especially elderly people.
The overall design of the homestay is very cozy and beautiful. The bathroom is very big, the uncle at the front desk is very friendly and have many snacks/cup noodles given for free at the room which is a plus if you arrived there late at night and have nothing to eat. They even have a Dyson hair dryer too! And it is close to the old street using the shortcut behind the homestay.

United StatesThe shower needs a little bit more cleaning and there was also a noise coming from the vent in the bathroom.
The location was perfect. Near bus station and 2 minutes walk to Old Town street. The room was cute and had everything I needed. The family running the place was extremely kind, especially the lady who despite our language barrier, explained to me everything I needed know about the village.
