Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaGreat staff and relaxing with great breakfast. Definitely recommended. Easy walk to old street by stairs 350m downhill but you will need to walk up to get back. That is the beauty of Jiufen.

GermanyCommunication was quite inefficient: we received long and detailed messages, but unfortunately, some key information was missing — particularly instructions on how to find the entrance, which made our arrival unnecessarily difficult. Additionally, several people mistook our entrance for the café and lingered outside, which disturbed our privacy a bit.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully designed chalet — by far the most stylish and memorable accommodation we had during our time in Taiwan. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere was truly unique.

SingaporeIt was quite humid in the room and smelled a little moldy. The toilet was clogged on our last day there. Never saw any staff even though we stayed for 2 nights.
Complimentary breakfast at the nearby cafe was really nice. There was instant service via WhatsApp although we never saw any staff. Location was good and there was a lot of decor in Instagram style. Their tour driver Mr Lee was very kind and charged reasonable fees for the airport pickup from Taipei.

AustraliaSoooooo many light switches (that are unlabelled), so be prepared to take a couple more seconds to try to turn on/off the light that you want.
Everything about the location was great! We took the train from Taipei City to Ruifang and then taxi from Ruifang straight to the property (the fare is standard, so no need to worry about being ripped off!) Good walking distance to Old Street - stairs can be a bit steep for elderly or those with luggage but not impossible. Property only accepts payment in cash so the Booking.com charge is cancelled closer to the date, so remember to bring cash to settle fees. Bathroom is spacious and water pressure satisfactory. The toilet bidet was a dream to have in winter! Important to note the kitchen is equipped with ice machine, water boiler, water purifier, mini fridge, but no microwave (so have your meals at Old Street and buy snacks to have in the room). The property has 3 aircons that are capable of heating/cooling, so it's really perfect for any season. USB charging ports on bedside were also greatly appreciated.

SingaporeThere was no proper cupboard place to hang your jackets/clothes. The location of the cottage was situated at a downslope. To push/carry your luggage up and down a flight of stairs is very challenging especially in the winter where rain and moist makes everywhere a slip hazard.
The breakfast location was a quaint cafe by the side of the cottage. Food served was excellent. Beds were comfortable and overall we had a good sleep.

United StatesNothing, everything is great
The property is perfect in every way, it’s like stepping into a completely different world. It creates a vibe that you live in the “spirited away” world. The location is super convenient, I walked to the old street in less than 10 minutes and you get to enjoy the quiet little town all by yourself before the tourists get in in the morning and after tourists leave at night. The host is super helpful when you need anything, you can also book day tours and massage to the room with the host. I’m extremely terrified of bugs, because this is in a forest and I was traveling by myself, that was a concern. But I didn’t encounter anything in my two nights of stay.

SingaporeJust beware of low ceiling at washroom entrance. Bring umbrella or raincoat when visiting JiuFen
Nestled in the heart of JiuFen, the Twilight Forest Stay is a hidden gem that offers a one-of-a-kind experience. From its unique renovations to the breathtaking visual enjoyment, this hotel is a haven for those seeking an enchanting escape. The renovation of the Twilight Forest Stay is truly a work of art. The blending of modern amenities with traditional aesthetics creates an atmosphere that is both captivating and cozy. Every corner of the hotel seems to tell a story, and the attention to detail in preserving the cultural essence is commendable. The thoughtful design choices added a touch of magic to my stay, making it an experience unlike any other. One of the standout features of the Twilight Forest Stay is its proximity to JiuFen Old Street. A mere 10-minute staircase walk takes you to the vibrant heart of this historic area. The convenience of being so close to the bustling street, yet secluded enough to enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding forest, is a rare combination that sets this hotel apart. The visual enjoyment provided by the Twilight Forest Stay is nothing short of mesmerizing. Whether gazing out from the windows at the lush greenery or stargazing on a clear night, the hotel offers a feast for the eyes. Each room is a sanctuary, providing a serene retreat after a day of exploration.
