Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe climb up, over 100 steps, to get to the hotel was difficult so don't bring luggage - leave it somewhere.
The view was good, the breakfast was excellent and the bed was comfortable.

TaiwanIt's located at the top of Jiufen Old Street, which means you'll have to climb a lot of stairs. If you're carrying large luggage or traveling with elderly people, this B&B might not be suitable for you.
It's located at the top of Jiufen Old Street, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. The staff are friendly and chill. They have a LINE account for tourists to ask questions, and they reply immediately. I like the retro-style furniture and decorations. The shared areas are tidy and comfortable as well. There were spectacular views from the room I got—I could spend all day in my room taking photos, haha. Overall, I will definitely visit again!

I had a very pleasant stay. Even though I arrived late due to a flight delay, everything was prepared in advance and check-in went smoothly. The staff the next morning was very helpful and even assisted with booking a taxi. I can truly recommend this hotel – the location is excellent and the service was great.

AustraliaVery hard to find a car park, narrow roads to drive in, we bumped our rental car when try to give way to a car, and we ended up paying for NT 5000 additional fee ( the space of the road only allow one car to drive through, but you might meet another car drive opposite direction, forcing you to drive backwards all the way to the entrance if you are unlucky like us)
Great location, 2min walking distance to business street. Cozy and beautiful public spaces in level 2 & 3

MalaysiaHad a great stay! The staff were super nice and friendly, always ready to help. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable — honestly one of the best I’ve slept in. The toilet was spotless and everything felt really clean. The whole place had a calm, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

United KingdomIt’s not a really big deal, but I think the staff could’ve been a little more friendly.
I really liked the style of the hotel and views of the ocean. The breakfast was also very good. My husband really appreciated all the plugs in the room and the pressure of the shower.

SingaporeWe book for overnight stay and have 3 big luggage. It was not convenient to carry up the staircase to the hotel, and it was raining upon our arrival. We called the staff for help but were unable to assist, reason only 1 person was working at the counter. Hope the hotel provides a better service to assist with luggage as not many visitors understand the location situation in Jiufen.

United StatesTowel hanger was inside shower stall, so not practical. Not a lot of space for bags inside the room, which was not an issue for us as we just had backpacks, but could be problematic for those with larger bags.
Wonderful staff. Really nice people run this place. The location is good, but a bit of a walk from the bus stand. Great shower. Wonderful breakfast buffet with vegan vegetarian options. A hot/cold water dispenser with coffee & tea 24/7. Very clean updated facility with nice common areas. Comfortable bed. They changed the towels on request. Free use of umbrellas. Good WiFi. Good TV with English channels.

SingaporeThe toiler is the kind that you need to throw the toilet paper into the bin next to it. This is common in Taiwan and I don't hold it against the place, but this is something to keep in mind if you are uncomfortable with this kind of thing.
The location gave a great view of the sea and was a comfortable base to explore Jiufen, though I recommend taking a taxi straight there because trying to drag luggage through the busy and narrow streets and up so many stairs is very stressful. Staff are helpful and will give recommendations for shops, as well as call a taxi if requested. The beds are queen-sized and can fit three adult people, but only just. They will repeatedly emphasise to you the bed is small, so it is entirely your responsibility if you book it for 3 people and you can't fit in. There is an extra charge for the third person in the room for things like extra towels that you must pay in cash.

United StatesI did not like the size of my room nor the facilities in general. Hotels of this type in Taiwan are lower in price. Relatively speaking these are a bargain. The room size was a little small. When I stay for 3 days and 3 nights I like to spread things in my luggage out so I can access them, and not have to repack items everyday. There was little space to spread things out, and to make it easier for the cleaning person having a lot of things lying around compromise their efficiency. The shower was enclosed in the same enclosure as the toilet. I am 5'6" and found it cramped. But you do get a private full service bathroom. Realistically the small room matched its price. My view was an alley and old buildings. Jiufen is know for scenic views, so I was disappointed. I asked for a room with better view but none were available. Booking.com listed my hotel room as having a view. But a view of a dark alley and building. I will try to attach a photo of my view. Expect to pay more for the fantastic scenic views on the 3rd floor facing the ocean.
This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Jiufen district with a lot of streets and alleys to explore. It is within a short walking distance to Old Jiufen Street. There are some fantastic views of the hilly area from the hotel and in the town itself. This hotel has great views but I would recommend the 3rd floor. The first floor is blocked by 2 tress in front the hotel. These 2 trees somewhat obstruct the second floor. The 3rd floor has the best views. It rises above the 2 trees. I think it is worth the extra cost if you can afford it. My room had a view of the back alley on the second floor. There are lounging areas for all guests on the 2nd and 3rd floor with a wide scenic view of the ocean and coastal area. The lounging area on the 2nd floor have standard chairs and tables. The 3rd floor lounging area has floor seating that Americans associate with Japanese Tatamies. There are no elevators so you will have to carry your bags up multiple flights of stairs. It was not easy for me. Breakfast is a traditional Taiwanese offering with many choices. Coffee and toasts are available. As a Chinese-American I enjoyed the breakfast offerings. There is at least one restaurant within 3 minutes walk that offer western style breakfast. I did not go but saw their menu offerings. Of course there are many options for food in the immediate area. It can be bewildering with all the options available. Overall I enjoyed my stay and wanted to stay another night but I had made reservations in Taipei. I am a photographer. I took many photo images during the early morning and late afternoon hours. The coastal mountains and harbors offered beautiful images.

AustraliaThe bathroom was quite small, but manageable. Be aware, the location is at the very top of the old town, and you will need to climb a lot of stairs if you come by bus - it's a decent workout :)
We stayed for two nights and loved it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful with great views, even on cloudy days. The common areas were beautiful, with a serene atmosphere. The breakfast was very tasty - we are vegetarian and the staff was very accommodating. There was a good mix of Western and Eastern food options.
