How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe property is in an excellent location with beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. The rooms are tastefully designed and decorated. Very comfortable bed. Very clean and big room. A good location for visiting Taiping Mountain National Park the following day.

Verified reviewA wonderful and relaxing stay. The whole place was very modern and new. Wonderful view. The host 阿亮 was very down-to-earth and friendly throughout the whole of our stay. The restuarant that he recommended us to have dinner at was super delicious and interesting. It doesn't coen with menu, you just have to wait for the next dish to be served! Haha.. 亮院子is a great stopover before you head up to tai ping shan.

Verified reviewBright courtyard is beautifully designed like a five star hotel with a five star service. The host 亮哥 made sure the our kids and elderly are well taken care of, customized breakfast , ordered dinner and helped us wash our laundry ( not within service and hotel). We loved the mountain view especially during sunrise. It’s also more convenient to stay here to reach Taiping Shan instead of the city area.
The dinner options are limited but we managed to have our dinner at two separate nearby Attaya restaurants at a reasonable price

Verified reviewThe hostel is brand new (started may 2023) built with high quality (compare to 4 star hotels). Bathtub comes with warm spring water. Equip with elevator, great breakfast, ample room with 2 large queen size beds. There is a snack bar serve great coffee and snacks on the 1st floor free of charge. The view is fantastic, especially if you are lucky to be checked in the 2 rooms that are facing the valley.
Credit card is not accepted at the hostel, only cash. Between, I am not sure if the hostel owner on site speaks English or not (I myself speak Mandarin so it's not an issue for me)

Verified review1.Breakfast was really good - thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated - 8 dishes with hot porridge and 3 types of cut fruit. However, we stayed for 3 nights, so having the same breakfast 3 days in the row was a bit monotonous. I would suggest for some bread, spread and toaster to be provided for guests who prefer a western style breakfast. 2. The owner was really kind and hospitable - he actually took the trouble to lead us to a nearby restaurant for dinner as he was concerned about us driving in the dark and getting lost. He was also very chatty and forthcoming with recommendations and advice.
There wasn't anything we didn't like. Everything was perfect!
