How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is perfect - about 5 minutes from the subway or to the Pier Warehouses area. The hostel is absolutely immaculate and the host is lovely and responded quickly to any comments. There is a well-equipped kitchen and seating area and a lift which is handy if you have heavy luggage. The bed cubicles have a little shelf which is great for storing small things and there was also a desk and some extra space in the room. I have stayed here twice and really enjoyed both times

Verified reviewKLA B&B is a modern, quiet, and comfortable homestay with boutique hotel vibes. It’s clearly run with pride and personal care. Its thoughtful details — password locks, great coffee, daily cleaning, and top-notch service — make it more than just a place to sleep. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Especially for Gen-X travelers who want a fuss-free, pleasant, and well-connected base to explore Kaohsiung. Book early if your visit falls on a weekend — this place deserves to be popular.

Verified reviewVery clean and modern, staff were exceptionally responsive. It was much nicer inside than we expected after walking through a laundromat to find the entrance.

Verified reviewEverything. Located within a maximum of 10 min walk from a multitude of transport options. Extremely clean and well maintained. Very secure, with access with a personal code. A kitchen including free expresso coffee. I booked a bed in a female dormitory. There was an ensuite, a desk and even a magnifying mirror for makeup. The beds were large and comfy, with a gigantic mirror in each cubicle, as well as power points, a shelf and hooks. It is better if you inform them of your expected arrival time.
Finding the entrance can be tricky. The main entrance is located inside a laundrette, or you can use the back entrance. There is no receptionist, so let them know when you will arrive.

Nothing we didn't like! If we were nitpicking, wish the toilet seat could be better (not guy friendly) and the tv can play YouTube!

Verified reviewClean, quiet, pretty spacious for a dorm, and has a coin laundry on the first floor. Perfect if you want a sleep in during summer when sunrise is 5-5:30am 😆 Dorm room didn’t let in natural light as it didn’t have a window so come morning, you can’t tell whether the sun has risen or not.
Not a big deal, but it’s a bit hard to find (no front desk), didn’t realise I was supposed to walk INTO the laundromat. Thankfully someone came out from the door in the back to get me.

Verified reviewPillows and bedding are good. If people are not talking in the bedroom, it’s very quiet and possible to get good sleep. Facilities are new. There is a lift inside and no shoes policy. It seemed pretty clean. Towels are provided. Hamasen is nice if you know what you’re going to get (not near buses or trains, but there’s a park and cafes nearby). Facility arrangement could make sense if you are a local or at least traveling in a large group, so you’d book an entire room and stay with friends. For a solo foreigner… no.
Some reviewers call it “hostel” but it’s not at all a hostel and for me it was very inconvenient. Maybe my expectations are not property’s fault, but considering the price (approaching a hotel room) it was a very suboptimal choice in the end. I’ve stayed in a number of places in this price range in both Taiwan and Kaohsiung specifically, and I can compare. Facility arrangement for shared rooms is awkward. There is an en suite bathroom (only one) for you and your stranger roommates and that’s all you can use. Urgently need to pee while I have a nice shower? Use the street. Want to catch a quick shower before checkout, but someone is having traveler’s diarrhoea for 40 minutes? Unlucky, you just have nowhere to go. Hosts should put bathrooms outside in order to balance guest load across all rooms. Similarly, sitting areas in shared bedrooms are a bad idea. People whom you don’t know will be hanging out in the bedroom non stop, and you have never a moment of privacy between getting out of bed and getting dressed. Normally, shared bedrooms are for sleep only. Get up & get out. There is no messaging discouraging people from talking in bedrooms, so some roommate started loudly talking (not sleep talking either) at 6am sharp the second night. I got about 3 hours of sleep total. There’s no reception, you must arrange arrival time precisely or you may be stuck outside in intense heat (especially if you don’t have Internet connection) even if you specified your arrival time when booking. They revoked my access mid stay while I was on a trip to another city, so when I returned I had to message them to get in, but they sorted it out. Maybe they thought I checked out, but I paid for the entire stay up front so that was a lousy move. (After returning, was also unable to find the shirt that I didn’t take with me on the trip, but I can’t say for sure where I left it.)

Verified reviewThe reception was very friendly. Even though we arrived too late, the staff was waiting for us and he explained us everything patiently. The room was spacious and clean. Also, it was close to the art centre and a night market (only open Saturday). Moreover, we got a card with which we could wash for free.

Verified reviewSuper clean and comfortable dormitory. Overall accommodation is a decent size. There is a living room where you can drop your bag before or after cheching out with everything you need available (from water fountain to kitchenware). I only stayed two nights but my hosts still took care to change my sheets and towel. Special mention for the person who speaks perfect English and makes sure to explain everything you need to make you comfortable !
There is no natural light in the room but it still comfortable.

Verified reviewWe stayed two nights at KLA B&B during a transit through Kaohsiung. Jacky, our host, was great. He was very thorough in explaining how everything worked during check-in. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Everything functioned well—the AC, the hot shower. The shared kitchen area was also kept tidy and clean. We greatly appreciated the drinking water refill station, ice, and coffee machine. The 24-hour self-laundry facility on the ground floor was very convenient. The area is nice and quiet, perfect for a good night’s sleep, and in a great location within walking distance to the LRT and many good restaurants. Jacky provided a helpful map of recommended food places—we tried many of them! The place thoughtfully considered many needs a guest might have when staying in Kaohsiung and provided nice toiletries too. We would stay here again when visiting Kaohsiung. Good value accommodation.
It was perfect for our short stay. There is only a city view, but that’s normal as the place is located in the heart of the city.

Verified reviewReally comfortable bed, sizable room, great location within less than 10 minutes walk of multiple bus stops and a metro station. Also easy to access the harbourfront area, Monkey Mountain, and shopping areas, including a large grocery store. The owners also seem to run the 24 hour laundromat that you enter the building through. Very modern facilities and good prices!
The 2nd floor hallway and my room smell of moth balls sometimes. Not sure why, but it is a bit off-putting. The kitchen does not have a microwave and has limited cooking utensils.
