Very close to the Beach, nice location! Max is very helpful and the staff is very nice. We Even got a room for free for the day of our checkout because we were leaving late in the evening. The pool and restaurant area are beautiful, Breakfast was good too 😊 wifi worked very well even for videocalls

Very friendly and helpful staff, they provided a lot of useful information about places to eat etc and continued to be helpful to me after check out until my flight. Very convenient location, near the beach and a good dive centre.

We liked everything!!

We stayed 4N in Babalao. Absolutely incredible place. Friendly staff, great vibe, good food options, overall the place will make you feel like home. Our room was nice and clean and everything was just as we had hoped for. Max, who is the host, is a wonderful person and very helpful, welcoming and generous. Just a 3 min walk to the beach, this is your very own bubble to chill and relax and enjoy the best of Nungwi. We booked our snorkelling tour as well as all our taxi rides with them as their rates are very decent and most importantly, people are nice. We took a couple full body massage which was soo soo good. Overall super happy with our stay and loved our time here. Definitely coming back here if we visit Nungwi again!

Just something for people to be aware of is that the property does have a dog and cat(s). They don’t bother people, but they’re there. Also, breakfast doesn’t come with juice (coffee and water available).

I’d like to start with the super friendly and accommodating staff - they were phenomenal. The hotel is better than pictured. I was pleasantly surprised by the greenery and pathways to the rooms. It’s a literal escape! The location was great, walking distance to the beach and various restaurants - you’ll be spoiled for choice. The food at Babalao was also really good, so don’t have to leave for meals. Breakfast was different everyday, and so tasty. Lastly, the owner, Max was readily available to assist with any issues/problems and also to just give advice on where to go when and what there is to do. I’d definitely stay again.

Cozy and quiet place with cute small Cat 🐈‍⬛ and dog 🐕 Bro 😎 I stayed only one night because I have to go back home but definitely it worth that 100% Also I like breakfast option and the fact that they serve breakfast almost any time during the day. I’m my room was mirror with nice light so at the evening time room looks amazing African style

We had an amazing stay at Babalao Bungalows in Zanzibar! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Max, the owner, was incredibly kind and helpful—always ready with great recommendations on where to eat (especially to make sure the fish was fresh!) and which beach resorts to visit for the best swimming spots. The bungalows themselves were super cozy, and the artistic touches around the lodge made it feel extra special. We loved just hanging out in the garden when we didn’t have any plans—playing games, relaxing, and enjoying the peaceful vibe with the sweet dog and playful kitten. Honestly, we’ve never felt so relaxed and at ease in a place. Everything about Babalao just felt right, and we’re already dreaming about coming back. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a chill, welcoming spot in Zanzibar!

The staff here is incredible from the manager Max to the restaurant staff and others working around the hotel. They serve a phenomenal breakfast every morning and they are attentive to every need. Max even gives you his number on WhatsApp in case any issues arise. We are so lucky to have found this place and highly recommend it.

Not related to the hotel, but the locals and massai tribe people are many in the area. And they are very annoying and give you a very uncomfortable feeling, especially for a solo traveller. They never stop talking to you and always try to escort you wherever you go.

What a beautiful, neat cosy boutique hotel. Alp gave me the best welcoming i ever had when i arrived. He was very helpful and accommodating to all types of services and questions. I really liked the provided service of refilling water bottles for free. Breakfast was yummy. The hotel is only a few steps from the beach and is close to baraka restaurant.

Absolutely everything was perfect here! I arrived straight from a boat trip to mnemba island to a warm breakfast and my luggage already in my room. The hotel is stunning with beautiful artwork everywhere, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the location is perfect - not even 5 minutes walk to Nungwi beach and restaurants. The staff absolutely make this place. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and they couldn’t do more for you. The owner max is so helpful and if you want service, this is 100% the place to come!! I absolutely loved my stay here and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We didn't like crowd in Nungwi, but this has notrhing to do with Babalao.

We liked everything, the staff, the pool area and especialy the pets (a dog and 2 cute cats). Very homy vibe and beautifuly decorated. The owner was great and very helpfull. It is an oasis of peace and quiet in Nungwi. We loved it and we recomend it to everyone.
