Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomClean, well maintained. Well positioned. The staff were phenomenal. they enhance the experience…. The manager? Julius, Stephen the housekeep, Mohammed the bartender, Chef Hussein and Charles the day manager? Absolutely made out stay. There were many others but these stood out. For absolutely doing a great job but not expecting praise, they did a great job because it’s their job. Speaks to a wonderful hotel/working culture.

Staff was amazing from Julius the General manager to Simba the dedicated staff to our family. everyone was welcoming and full of warmth. The concept of dedicating someone from the team to take care of you at the restaurant was amazing. Jumua Simba did a great job. Restaurant was great. We had the best food you can have in a trip. Very generous quantities and a wide variety of choices. The SPA was great. the location on the best side of the Paje beach was a blessing. The resort was an oasis of calmness and very suitable for families. No distractions and no touristic noise. It's an ideal place for relaxation.

Words truly fall short when it comes to describing our unforgettable stay at Kisiwa on the Beach Resort in Zanzibar. From start to finish, everything was absolute perfection — this place is more than a resort; it’s a sanctuary of pampering, peace, and paradise. 🌴✨ Let’s start with the staff — every single person we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely caring. But a special shoutout to Simba, our incredible waiter, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. Simba’s service was exceptional — thoughtful, attentive, and so kind. He made us feel truly seen and celebrated. Thank you, Simba, for taking such good care of us — you are a gem! 💫 We were spoiled every day with amazing food — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And the birthday cake… wow. It was absolutely delicious, and honestly one of the best we’ve ever had! Moist, perfectly sweet, and presented with so much joy. Speaking of joy — the dancing, the music, the birthday songs — everything felt like a celebration of life and love. The attention to detail in every moment, from the room setup to the personalized service, was mind-blowing. Every touch felt intentional and full of heart. The resort itself is stunning — clean, beautifully designed, and set against the breathtaking turquoise waters of Zanzibar. We truly felt like royalty. 👑 If you’re looking for a place that combines natural beauty, outstanding hospitality, delicious food, and a soul-soothing atmosphere, Kisiwa on the Beach is it. This is a 5-star experience in every possible way — worth every single penny and then some. Thank you, Kisiwa team, for a stay we will never forget. We’re already dreaming of coming back. 💙🌊

United Arab EmiratesNothing to be not liked, price is on a higher side but for this kind of service and place nothing to comment negative.
Probably one of the best hotel/resort in Paje area and maybe even in Zanzibar overall. The resort is brand new, curated in every detail, huge private mini villas with private swimming pools. The interiors are very nice, combined with the surrounding nature and mixed at best. From the point of view of the facility, you will struggle to find something nicer and better included in the nature. The food is extraordinarily good, we had half board so breakfast and dinner, quality of the products is amazing, the quantity and the variety of the food is on the level of the best restaurant in Zanzibar (tried may of them) personally we could not ask for more. Particular point to be noted is the Staff, from the manager to the last cleaner present in the resort they are all extremely nice, supportive, attentive in any of your needs and often anticipating the same. Team is well well trained brining your overall experience to a great lev, to give you an idea to increase and make your staying smoother you will have the same waiter/responsible for you for breakfast and dinner so she learn your preferences, details and what do you like the most. Not to forget the beach in front (connected) to the resort which makes everything perfect.

The room included half board (breakfast& Dinner), and we were always welcomed by Khalfan our own personal waiter. He is the best, his service is great and sincere. We had great conversations, and he taught us even Swahili. BIG compliments to him and all the staff. I would defitnley recommend this to other travelers.

United KingdomThere is attentive service and there is over-attentive service. While the staff are all well meaning, we got tired of being asked every 5 minutes if everything was OK and did we need anything. We also thought the quality of the food could and maybe should be better for this price of establishment
The setting at Kisiwa on the Beach is very beautiful. The restaurant building is dramatic, the pool set slightly back from the beach, and the spacious villas are all lovely. Some of the staff are exceptional. A special mention to Julius the manager, who took lots of time to discuss East African politics and economics, Gertrude on reception who helped us out of a spot of bother we got into with a taxi driver, and the pool boy, whose name I'm ashamed I can't remember. I'm sorry.

United KingdomDrinks are a little bit on the pricey side. Not a problem if you don't mind walking 20 minutes down the beach to some other bars.
Lovely staff. Ombeni the waiter was fantastic, as was the restaurant manager Cornell. Both looked after us throughout our stay. Housekeeping were also fantastic and the spa team gave us a couple of treatments. We loved relaxing by the pool and the proximity to the beach. I'd highly recommend this as a relaxing retreat.
