How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review• Very close to the beach. • One young staff member was very kind and helpful. • Excellent location near the best restaurant in town—Chez Hassan—which serves fresh, high-quality food at very affordable prices.
• One staff member was extremely disrespectful and untrustworthy. On our first day, we paid $150 USD in cash for our stay (total cost: $142 USD), and she claimed she had no change—neither in USD nor in Tanzanian shillings (TZS). She offered no apology and refused to find a solution. • On our last day, we were asked to pay 54,000 TZS for a meal that we clearly remembered costing 52,000 TZS. She provided no receipt or proof. We insisted she check the signed bill, which confirmed the correct amount was 52,000 TZS. Again, no apology was given. Throughout our stay, she was consistently unfriendly. • The room had a very bad smell—musty, unclean, and like old furniture. • The cleaning was not good—we saw staff mopping the floor with brown, dirty water. • The toilet had visible stains, and it was unclear whether this was due to poor cleaning or simply old and worn-out toilet. • The bed sheets had noticeable brown stains. • One wooden piece of furniture was infested with termites—we could hear them eating the wood!! The staff’s solution was to move the infested item outside our room, right by our door. • One morning, we had no running water for two hours. • The two neighboring rooms had a table and two chairs outside, but ours had none. When we asked for chairs to enjoy the view, the staff simply took one chair from each of the other rooms and gave them to us, leaving the other two rooms with one chair each. • There was no safe in our room, even though it was shown in the pictures. • Breakfast did not match the pictures. There was no toaster and fewer options overall. We asked twice for omelettes and were served scrambled eggs both times, without any apology or explanation. • To reach the room at night, we needed to walk about 100 meters in absolute darkness. • Lastly, we booked an airport shuttle in advance and were told the price was $50 each way, which seemed fair for the 1.5-hour trip and since it was set by the property.
I'm sorry that it turned out that way, but you could have just called the hotel manager and he would have solved it for you on the spot instead of waiting for you to leave and write a bad review. Thank you very much, we apologize once again

Verified reviewMy wife and I had a fantastic stay at this charming boutique hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the whole place had such a cozy, peaceful feel. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. My wife especially loved the sea view and we both felt relaxed and happy throughout our stay. The location was perfect — quiet but close to everything we wanted to see. We highly recommend this place to couples looking for a memorable getaway.

Verified reviewI don’t normally leave bad reviews, but this experience warrants it. We encountered multiple issues during our stay at Two Palms . • No towels provided initially, and when we did get some, they were stained. • The room didn’t match the listing—there were no mosquito nets or safe for belongings as advertised. • Pool access was not available, the pool was empty for over half of our trip contrary to what was shown. However, the most unacceptable part was being harassed after checkout. Despite paying in full on our first day and confirming payment with the staff, we received aggressive messages accusing us of not paying—even threatening to call the police. While we were on our flight home, we were bombarded with messages demanding payment, when we had already shown proof of the completed card transaction. Eventually, after I sent screenshots, the matter was acknowledged as a misunderstanding. But this level of unprofessionalism and rudeness left a sour taste after an otherwise beautiful trip to Zanzibar. If you choose to stay here, keep every receipt and proof of communication, and don’t expect the amenities promised. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves communication between staff to avoid harassing future guests.

Verified reviewClean, quiet, and very welcoming Our stay at Two Palms Hotel in Jambiani was excellent. The rooms were impressively clean – probably the cleanest we’ve ever had while traveling. Everything was spotless, well-organized, and felt fresh. You can tell a lot of care goes into the upkeep. The staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to help. The location is peaceful, just a short walk from the beach, and perfect for relaxing. We’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone who values cleanliness and a calm atmosphere.

Verified reviewThe location is great, right on the beach with stunning view. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The hotel was new, and the rooms were clean. The only downside was that there were occasional power and Wi-Fi outages, but this seems to be a common issue across the entire island. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend this place.

It’s low tide every day , but every day it’s different , but we didn’t have problem with that because we want to experience that also Swimming pool is good as well, specially when u have kids. If u need anything the stuff are very helpful . We enjoyed our stay , for that budget was perfect
