Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UgandaWe all loved our stay. As wedding guests, it was conveniently close to the venue and worked perfectly for all of us.
Residence 256 is an unassuming hidden gem. You walk through the doors into a little, tastefully decorated oasis. The rooms are exactly as pictured and very comfortable, the staff are wonderful and so friendly - shout out to Esther - and the complimentary breakfast is a delight. It’s also very conveniently located if you’re staying over for a wedding in the Kigo Gardens, like we were. Can only recommend this place highly 🙌🏽

United StatesI was in Kampala for a conference and stayed at Residence 256 for a week. The rooms/facilities look even nicer in person, and the Superior room was excellent and had all the amenities I needed and more! The breakfast (fresh and delicious) was my daily highlight, and I tried the in-house lunch/dinner on a couple of occasions, which was also lovely to have. The staff was fantastic and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was smooth. The only challenge I had with my stay had nothing to do with the actual place, but more so the location. There was a road/roundabout closure nearby at the time that made it slightly more challenging to get a taxi, but the staff was always helpful in those instances in securing one. I would highly recommend- you truly can't beat the value for what you get in terms of comfort and quality.

South AfricaThere was nothing I did not like.
Residence 256 is a small hotel situated inside a safe enclosed residential area. It is on the second or third floor of a building without a lift. You need to climb the stairs, but the hotel staff carry your luggage for your. The hotel is beautifully decorated in African style, without sacrificing modern amenities. You are given a choice of various dishes for breakfast, which you must order the evening before, as well as indicate the time you will have breakfast. For the other meals, you also have a choice between two or three dishes. It's not gourmet food, but the food is prepared with care. There is a coffee/tea station in the dining room, with biscuits throughout the day. From the dining room there is a beautiful view to Lake Victoria, where you can experience the sunset. The staff are very polite and attentive to your needs, and always ready to help. The wi-fi was adequate. There is no air-conditioning in the room but there is a good quality fan. They provide a gown, slippers and rubber slippers for the shower, as well as shower gel, body cream and a toothbrush kit. The bed is surrounded by a mosquito net. There is a desk in the bedroom. It is not a 5 star hotel, so you cannot expect 5 star hotel amenities. In all, I regard Residence 256 as a good hotel, that offers a calm atmosphere and attention to your needs.

IrelandThe hotel doesn't appear on google maps so it was a bit difficult to find in a taxi. It is located in a gated community and takes some time to enter. However, when we phoned Esther she was able to give directions and allow us entry.
Esther welcomed us to the beautiful Hotel 256. The room was beautiful and very clean. The dining and are were also lovely. The food prepared by the chef was the best we've had in Uganda. The hospitality really was wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay.

UgandaIt's a lovely place with great people. We had a weekend staycation for the entire family. The place is beautiful, homely, and warm. They have six rooms, so they can handle a large family. The furnishings and accessories are quite captivating. It is good value for money and is located between Serena Kigo and Speke Resort Munyonyo along the expressway. The hotel is located inside the luxurious gated Mirembe villas, which guarantees security. The kids got to enjoy the play area within the estate. The environment was quiet, and we took a gentle stroll in the evening. It is the perfect place to unwind in a comfortable environment.

United KingdomFrom the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the house staff. Their exceptional service made me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay. The location, overlooking a picturesque golf course, added an extra touch of tranquility and beauty to my experience. Additionally, the hotel provided convenient access to a neighboring hotel's gym, spa, and pool facilities. This allowed me to unwind and pamper myself after a long day, making my stay even more enjoyable. They were always available to assist with any queries or requests, and their genuine friendliness made me feel like a valued guest. Overall, my stay was nothing short of exceptional. The outstanding customer service provided by Tony and Ester, combined with the stunning location overlooking the golf course and access to the neighboring hotel's amenities, made for a truly memorable experience. I have stayed at dozen of hotels in Kampala. This one is truly magical. Staff were very hospitable and there for every need of mine. Extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Thank you Tonny & Esther. The property is gorgeous, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms with a lovely eco-friendly touch (there was even a balcony purposed to allow guests enjoy sweeping views of the lake and golf course).
