How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI rented this apartment and had a very good experience. The apartment itself is in good condition, well equipped, and especially the kitchen has everything needed for comfortable daily living. The owner was kind, responsive, and easy to deal with throughout my stay. it’s a great place to stay and I would recommend it.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

Verified reviewIt was close to places on our list to visit in Kampala
The owner of the property was very rude and unprofessional. After we stayed in the property from the 17th of July to 22 July, we decided to extend our stay to the 29th of July, so we booked through booking.com and after all have been confirmed and we got our pin. The owner came and told us that she also booked other people privately without blocking her property on the booking.com platform. So we ended up stranded in a foreign land regardless of the fact that we used an international booking site to secure our booking, but we ended up on the streets and we had to start looking for an alternative accommodation.l will never recommend anyone to stay in this property because the owner is very unprofessional and you might find yourself in the streets because we book privately and at the same time via the booking.com platform as well.
To fellow hosts, host this person at your own risk. He first booked for 4 days, then asked to extend for another 4 days. His booking had 2 guests and showed up with extra people. He is very proud, disrespectful, and arrogant if he doesn't get his way. He wants to make the rules for a property he doesn't own. I declined his second request for an abrupt extension since he communicated late, yet I had a different reservation from another guest who had booked earlier. On top of this, even after I gave him a 50% discount, he still paid in installments, yet utility expenses such as cleaning fees depend on the guest payments. He expected a five-star treatment while paying in installments. He threatened me and warned me not to joke with him. I am wondering why someone would want to stay and extend for a week plus at a property he is rating 2. If he was so uncomfortable, why didn't he stay at Serena Hotel, which is just minutes away from us.He instead refused to leave a property he claimed to be so bad, one really wonders and decided to give a bad review yet he didnt want to leave. Airbnb properties are not run like serviced hotel rooms on a daily basis. That is why we fully furnished the apartments with everything, including wash and dry machines, for guest convenience. But at half price with a big group, one wants room service and maid to clean after his mess everyday? Host him at your own risk.

Verified reviewThe property was close to a few of the places we were visiting.
The property is fairly maintained, but needs cleaning especially on the window frames and sliding door it was quite dust. The water is a serious challenge we ended up using buckets to bath for the 5nights if you try use the shower they are just drops coming out especially on the hot water. So you need to be prepared to use a bucket to bath. The bed is not comfortable at all it took me 3nights to adjust and it's very painful you will be turning all night. The cleaning guy came after 3days after our check inn which means for the past 2days you have to use the same sheets.

Verified reviewLovely location, host was superb. Clear communication and quick responses.
Floor was a bit dusty and soap wasn't provided.
Thank you for staying with us. The apartment is locared on a dusty main road. And we dont provide soap because different people react differently to the chemicals in the soap which was an issue for our previous guest.

Verified reviewThe furniture was nice
It was very dirty, the sheets had sperms, it has spiderwebs, it was dust everywhere. Dirty towels as well We agreed with the owner that the place will be cleaned every two days, she never pitched until I sent her a message telling her that I’ll report her here, and she told me to move out if I’m not happy imagine the audacity
Thank you for staying with us. I offered a full refund for you to look for a place that met your standards and pricing, and you declined. As per our hosting policy available on the website, which i hope you read before making the reservation, we clean mid visit, which we actually did. You accused my team of misplacing your watch, which you later found in your luggage, which was inappropriate. Airbnbs are not hotels that you will have room service every time you need it. You always have an option to find a place that meets your standards and pricing, an option which you had and turned down.

Verified reviewI loved the interior decor and availability of the staff.
There was a faulty door knob that just needed a turn on it, and it got spoilt. In my view, the staff might have known about it, that's why they left the door open. I had to pay for it, and this pissed me off to even recommend the place to any relations visiting Kampala. Also, furniture was dusty....seems no prior housekeeping was done ahead of our stay.

Verified reviewThe location was nice and easy to access downtown either by bike or public transport. A welcoming host is a must in any travel experience. Here, my chats with Aidah went as if we were old friends and the security was nice too. He even offered to lift all my heavy bags to the room.
The pressure on the shower was low to push out the water as I expected and the hot water heater was slow. It could also be helpful to have cloth drying rack in back house balcony in case a visitor does laundry and wants to sun dry.
Thank you for staying with us. Looking forward to hosting you again.
