Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was very weird to be told that the hotel has their own dollars rate which is higher than the bank and the money exchange places. The bathrooms needs more attention and to be cleaned regularly.
This is a beautiful place , very relaxing very comfortable, good WiFi, delicious and adequate breakfast. The view it's great and perfect to be in the garden with other travellers. The staff team, especially the receptionists are very welcoming and professional. I highly recommend this place.

Great breakfast. One staff member was super helpful and helped me plan the whole next leg of my journey. He put me in touch with someone near my next destination for accommodation in a great location and helped out with the bus. Good rooms with mosquito nets. Good safe location near lots of shops. Great first point of call when landing in Uganda.

UgandaI wish they packed my breakfast to go. A fruit.. Anything! But I don't hold it against them. It's all good. I believe they will do better next time
Friendly staff and cute dogs. Good location. I think they can benefit from a sign post for easy directions. The room was clean and comfortable. Clean bathroom. Nice views of Kampala. I will definitely stay there again!

KenyaThe noise in the nearby construction...
We enjoyed our stay very much. The room we stayed was surprisingly very spacious, comfortable, and equipped with essentials like mosquito nets, hot water, free Wi-Fi, and access to a shared kitchen with modern appliances (oven, microwave, fridge). The breakfast was our highlight, freshly prepared with local specialties like Ugandan coffee, fruits, and well-flavored dishes like omelets and Irish potatoes.. We loved the Rolex most. The staff was amazing, friendly and very warm to us. Not to mention the lovely dogs. It's a 5 minute walk to Acacia Mall, another highlight. It is a fantastic option if you are looking for a homey, community driven stay perfect for solo travelers or those looking to meet other travelers. I recommend it for its welcoming atmosphere, prime location, and great value of money.

South AfricaAm not a dog lover, but I didn't mind them because I knew I was not going to spend much time there. The dogs looked friendly, though. The place is not easy to find, but my driver had to ask the locals for directions. Pin location lost us. The place is quiet at night but during the day it is super noisy. You can't rest during the day. There's lot of constructions close by. My room was also close to the staff room. During the day, I could not sleep because the staff were passing by my window a lot.
I loved the breakfast. But I got to it once due to commitments. The chef was for ever smiling. My room was close to the kitchen so I got chances to interact with him. They offered to keep my breakfast coz I was going out before breakfast time 8ck. The place is not easy to find but my driver had to ask the locals for directions. Pin location lost us. I loved my private bathroom. The kitchen is a sharing kitchen with all the essentials.

JapanWe had the bungalow near the entrance, and because it was made on a hill, the bed was slightly slanted. The bedding could use a refreshment as it was quite uneven. The kitchen stove could use some upgrading as well as it doesn’t work that well when cooking.
It’s in a great area up the hill with very scenic common space. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It’s a larger guesthouse/hostel so the hostel vibes are there, which could be a good thing or bad thing depending on what you are looking for. They have a chef that cooks breakfast for everyone in the morning with generous portions. It was super delicious and they change the menu. The dogs are absolutely adorable!

South AfricaIt’s outdated, really could use some renovations because there was absolutely nothing “Luxury” about Acacia.

BrazilJust a small confusion that needs to be corrected on booking.com to avoid surprises. I booked a 4-bed dorm, but ended up staying in a 9-bed dorm, as it is not specified/described on booking.com that the 4-bed dorm is exclusive for women.
All the staff at the hostel are super helpful and friendly. The wifi is fast and works in all the rooms. The breakfast prepared by the hostel staff is amazing. The location is also great, about 10 minutes walk to a big shopping mall, restaurants and supermarkets. It is possible to wash your clothes for a fair price.

FranceThe 4 bed dorm I had booked turned out to be a 9 bed dorm. The error has been dealt with now supposedly though, and I've been upgraded to a cute little cabin.
Good vibes, social place and nice breakfast, as well as the possibility to cook for yourself. If you need to work there's sufficient space and good enough wifi. Oh and 2 very lovely dogs.

GermanyThe boda drivers sometimes didn’t know the place so I usually just took the boda to the Acasia mall and walk from there - max 5 min uphill. I didn’t mind the walk, just for you to keep in mind :)
I really enjoyed my stay here, very nice garden, bathroom and common areas were cleaned regularly. Great breakfast! The staff (with one exception) was super nice and helpful! We had some issues with the rain after a strong storm but John was very quick to find a solution for us. There is a good Indian restaurant, a cafe, mall and supermarket within walking distance.
