We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandIt’s really basic, more like a village basic house with toilet outside. Staying more than one night would be too much. The fact that the accommodation price is around 25% of the overall experience, considering transportation to the place costs 15k for one boda boda each way, meals, and the hiking (114k). I wasn’t really ready for that
Great experience, you feel and learn a lot about the mountains community

What a great stay in the Rwenzori Mountains to support the local community. People are very friendly, food is delicious, waterfall hike and coffee workshop were amazing. Simple facilities, don't expect too much comfort.

United StatesArriving during the rainy season means washed out roads. The road to Kilembe alone had small rivers crossing it. The 5 kilometers up the mountain was steep (700 meters further up) and on what I wouldn't even call a road anymore. A boda boda was necessary and struggled for an hour to get up the mountain, requiring multiple hop ons and hop offs while in the rain in pitch-black darkness, luggage strapped to the back. I got there after dark and left before sunrise, taking 45 minutes to get back down to Kilembe. It was definitly an adventure, one I wouldn't call worth it, but that's on me.
The site is very basic but safe, comfortable, and very quiet. Checkin was easy and they prepared a warm dinner for my arrival. They have beer and water for purchase. Breakfast was generous with a tasty rolex, omelette, and coffee. The bandas are brand new along with the toilet, and they are in the process of expanding the number of bandas. It is primitive but comfortable accomodation, without electricity or running water outside of the reception/dining area. You will be provided a portable lamp. There isn't much of a view from the campsite, but the 1700 meter altitude provides an excellent view of the constellations and stars - bring your camera. There is a small village about 400 meters from the campsite, but stock up in Kasese before heading up. The temperature is cool at night, but blankets are provided. There is a small basin and large jug of water for light washing in the banda. It is not the easiest place to get to or stay at, but decent enough if you are looking for an adventure and a start to explore the Rwenzori Mountains.

United StatesAlthough the huts are on the primitive side, they're not bad for a rustic camp in Uganda. You'll need to order your food and beverages in advance of your arrival.
Be prepared for a challenging 30-minute trek up the mountain to get to this place. The road -- if you can call it that -- is shockingly bad, full of ruts, rocks and mud. If you've got your own vehicle, 4x4 in low-low is a must. Otherwise, get a bodaboda to take you up the mountain. Once you get to the top, the view of Lake George, the Rift Valley and the Rwenzori's is worth it. The staff helped carry our bags up the last 200 meters to our huts. The dinner and breakfast were quite good and the beer was cold. We didn't take any hikes to the waterfall but I've heard they're excellent.

Myanmar...
I am really very impressed by Mbunga. This accommodation that belongs to a local community to help the inhabitants of this region. First of all I am shocked and very gratified to have discovered this site. I can say that it is a retreat place to rest and relax. Reflect away from the noise of the cities. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I am very grateful to Alexander, Erwina. They are wonderful. They are pleasant all the time and Alexander is a great host. He always helps you in everything. He is also a very knowledgeable guide about the community. He knows the culture of his people and explains it in depth. The accommodation is really authentic. It is the perfect solution if you are looking to integrate into the nature of this beautiful region and want simplicity and authenticity. The local experience in this part of the Rwenzori foothills is Mbunga. The tranquility, the contact with nature and the views of this beautiful valley. I can say that Mbunga is my own Shangri-La in Uganda. I absolutely recommend the experience. Includes excursions to the Roriki River waterfall, which is incredible. The purity of the water in this river is amazing. And unknown.

GermanyBring a flashlight with you, as there ist no light in the cabin,, toilette, and shower. Recharging mobile phone and flashlight can be done in the on site restaurant.
At about 1800 above sea Level this place offers a great view into the Mountains and down to the Plateau. Very friendly staff, good food in large amounts. We took a guided Walk to the Border of the National Park Mount Rwenzori at 2300 m above sea level and to beautiful Rukoki water fall. Very friendly and knowing Guide. We saw a three horned Chamelion up there. We also booked a Camp fire with Story telling. A very homey experience with Lots of Exchange about all aspects of live, some home-brewed banana bear and fire grilled Chicken. Definitly worth visiting. Driving the Last 6 Miles with a Car is not advisable. We parked the Car at Kilembe Police station and took motorcycles sent by the Camp up to the Camp.

Place was very simple corresponding to the low price. For breakfast I ate the best Rolex during our three weeks vacation in Uganda. My companion enjoyed driving on the old broken road in the mountains leading to the accommodation. It was challenging.

GermanyExcellent humble place to stay up in the mountains near the Rwenzori. Alexander and Ferdinand are two very friendly people being. Ferdinand is a very good cook and you are able to eat local dishes there. If you have a 4WD vehicle it is possible to drive up the hill. The driver should be good in driving in the mountains. You can park your car right under the site and Alexander can organize a watchman to keep your car safe. Everyone around this place is very friendly and the local community is awesome. It is definitely a original African place where you can sleep in Bandas. There is a shower and a toilet which you can use. They also offer a lot of activities around the local area. We did the hike to the waterfall and Alexander gave us many and interesting informations about the area. We also talked for many hours one night. Very lovely place with very lovely hosts.

United KingdomThe road up the mountain is not for the faint-hearted.
The location is superb. The view of the Rwenzori mountains and the plain is spectacular. The guided walk up to the waterfall was interesting and beautiful. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn about the local culture. It was a calm and restorative place and it was good to learn the campsite is part of the community and not simply a profit making enterprise.

Czech RepublicWe were the first guests after a month and the personnel was totally unprepared. There was just no water in the shower and barrels, so after the muddy hike in the Rwenzori mountains we didn't have the chance to take a shower or even brush our teeth, There was neither water for drinking nor to buy. We got to the hut next to the restroom which smelled bad, The door was not easy to close and the bed was very uncomfortable.
It was supposed to be the best accommodation according to reviews. But the only incredible thing was the view and mountains and the ride by motorbike. The manager tried to communicate through WhatsApp and solve things.

Mbunga Community Campsite was one of the most incredible and unique places I have stayed. From the boda ride up the mountain, the incredible views, the friendly staff, the community around the campsite, and the overall atmosphere, I can recommend this place for travellers who are looking for a unique stay near Mount Rwenzori. Alex and Kule were incredible guides during our community walk and hike, and we got to see how the community makes coffee (be sure to buy some while you're there!). The hike to the waterfall is also incredibly beautiful!
