Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThere was a faint smell of sewage that I wasn’t sure was from outside or the property. My room had items like cups in the bathroom and a pair of black lace panties under the bed. The wall outlets were loose and I found it hard to keep my devices charged because the cords kept falling out the loose sockets
It was last min and suited my needs at the time

MalaysiaWasn't as close to New York as I expected but that's on me. Also I spotted a few cockroach in the kitchen at night. But nothing some extra cleaning the dishes can't fix, I don't mind.
Reasonable heating for the winter, showers and cooking was available. Dryers ok, room big enough, wardrobe to hang clothes etc Good tradeoff in prices given the distance.

United KingdomNo heating at all so nights where cold also I think u should have a spot downstairs perhaps in the back where guests can smoke instead of just outside as the neighbourhood is not the safest and I was almost scared of a few things otherwise .
I liked the look and the cleanliness, but it was freezing no heating

United States- Neighborhood appears unsafe at first, though it feels fine after a while - Liquor store across the street attracts a crowd, especially in the evening and more so on weekends - Floor isn’t very clean; better to wear shoes indoors - Stove is non-functional - Limited utensil set in the kitchen - Bathroom could use renovation; light is a bit dim and toilet placement is awkward (too close to the door)
- Comfortable overall stay - Good facilities available - Convenient location, only 15 minutes from the airport and Newark Penn Station - Affordable price that compensates for the drawbacks

CanadaI was not too fond of the bathroom. I hope it can be renovated a little bit.
Although the house looked slightly outdated, it was clean and comfortable. It was a good find for the price.

United StatesMy suitcase was rather heavy and going up and down three flights of stairs w it was a bit of a challenge. The person before me had a dog, which in and of itself is not a problem. It’s just that I could still smell that there was a dog there. They should have taken the rug out and washed it and more thoroughly cleaned and sprayed with an anti bacterial. Finally, please check the batteries on those locks regularly and remind visitors to keep their phones w them in case they are locked out of their bedroom due to a malfunction. I’m glad the battery stopped working on an arrival as opposed to later. I am assuming you are in the process of installing an outlet in to plug in the TV in the room.
The space was great! I wish I had known about the stairs in advance.

CanadaI didn't like the location, it didn't feel safe to me as a single traveler. I ended up not staying in the property because of it. I asked for a refund and was refunded 1 night out of 4. It's better than nothing, so I am thankful for that.
The unit was clean.

CanadaIs a very, very unsafe area. Uber and Lyft drivers would tell me and the other lady that was in the premises to be very careful. Right beside the house there is a green space where people gather to consume alcohol. Please consider that when you are looking for a place in the area. My bedroom was exactly what I needed, a comfortable bed to sleep, Thank you! The kitchen was dirty, a lady came, swiped the floors and then took charged in fixing the stove that wasn't lighting up. Just know, in the kitchen there were cockroach, babies and I saw mama too, but even thought I was disgusted I know is common in NY and NJ to see 🪳, is not a excuse though and knowing that the place should be neat to avoid them. The wi-fi never worked. At the end, there is a saying: "you get what you pay". But in the future I will understand that when you see a 9 🌟 review, it doesn't necessarily mean that, is important to research over that 9 star.
I appreciate that when I asked Sharon if I can bring my luggage earlier than checking time she kindly approved. Also, appreciate the gentleman that was in the house doing some repairs because of his kindness and willing to help me.

United StatesPlease see above!
The near airport location was very desirable. However, I tried three times on the eve of my arrival to reach the host via cell phone to no avail. I finally made contact in the late evening of my arrival at Newark International due to flight delays. I received the proper codes via cell phone. I was surprised to see such a narrow and steep stairway to the second floor walk up. Don't recall being so advised. Fortunately, at 80 years of age, I'm still in good shape. The rooms was not entirely clean for there were dusty floors, closet, broken hangers, woman's clothing in the bottom drawer of chest. Also kitchen trash was not emptied, and I found small bugs along the kitchen sink. And the bathroom rug, tub, and floors needed attention. I did advise the owner of my findings several days after I returned home from my travels in August.
