How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The pre check in communication was unprofessional because it was never sent to me and they 747 claim it was booking.com fault as they had not provided my email to them. Either way no one has taken ownership of this problem. My guest landed up, waiting for three hours to check in without any information and had to eventually leave and come back. The 747 staff I spoke to was very helpful and fixed the problem eventually but this should have not happened so let's make sure you'll fix this for the future. cheers!

The water was not quite warm on one of the nights (mostly cold!) which was annoying after a long day in the city.
The location is perfect, very clean and practical. Very well equipped and the coffee / snacks on place were a treat after long travels <3

The locking mechanism of the unit seemed rather flimsy and as a solo female traveller, I would have liked a door chain, a double lock or similar to close from the inside. It also normally took 2-3 times of trying to lock the door from the outside.
The washer/dryer and the iron/ironing board were a massive plus.

Once we arrived, the electricity went off and we had to struggle to reach someone. Parking wasn't easy to find at first, but while we were searching for something online, a free spot appeared just in front (so it IS possible to get a free parking nexdoors)
Very convenient location - close to public transport, possible to walk to downtown. It's a nice and calm apartment, with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry set. Really convenient for both short and longer stays in Chicago. The instructions given before arrival were clear.

The floor was disgusting when we arrived. There was hair from a previous stay and dust that coated our feet. There wasn’t any bugs but the floor being so gross made us question the cleanliness of the entire room. The sheets appeared clean but discolored.
The location was right next to the blue line which was convenient. It was also located near multiple restaurants making last minute meals easy. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and they provided nice soaps.

The following isn't a matter of taste or opinion, but rather advice for owners: you can't, and shouldn't, rent an apartment without a closet or a single hanger in the bedroom or bathroom. Please fix this, and along with other small details, the apartment will be much better.
The location, with the CTA station and buses right next to the apartment.

- The room had a weird smell to it. I think it might have been coming from the faux-leather couch? Not sure. - Super noisy (with the fire department right outside) – it's almost like there is a window open, but there wasn't – they're just single-paned, old, and poorly made. And you can hear loud creaking from every footstep of those in the room just above you. Fortunately, they left a couple pairs of earplugs... But they should get double-paned windows and insulate the ceiling. - Shower layout is poorly designed, such that you are forced to be sprayed by cold water when you turn it on. The shower head should really be a rainfall-style one instead of one that sprays straight at you. - Everything just felt janky and old. - Tiniest TV in existence
- Nice to have all the amenities of a tiny loft apartment – fridge/freezer, stove/oven, laundry. - Seemed like it was cleaned properly. - Extremely easy access to the train for transport through the city.
