Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I travel with my service animal, a 35 lb 5 yr old female boxer named Phoebe. She's been certified as of 3.5 years ago as a service animal for my particular serious health condition. The motel manager forced us to leave after a few nights because he stated "No pets are allowed here." I explained that Phoebe is not a pet, but a certified service animal and that my health condition required her to be with me in the event that my symptoms are exacerbated or my condition becomes an emergent event. I also attempted to explain both California and Federal law regarding service animals, not emotional support dogs, that precluded establishments like his motel from refusing services. I brought up copies of the state and federal laws and Phoebe's Certifications and recent course updates and Recertification courses on my smart phone but he refused to look. Instead, he "shushed" me away verbally and with his hand while walking away and saying "you must leave at 11:00 and check out." The manager became irritable as he came back to tell me "we don't have vacancies anyways." A quick check revealed at least 4 rooms still available. Although having to find a different accommodation last minute was not ideal I decided to not continue to engage with the manager as he was clearly angry bordering belligerence. I did find a motel but had to wait 2.5 hours for my room to become available for check in.

Facilities vs price even w discount was unsatisfactory. The cleaning manager once again made stay worth it .

The bed was super hard with only two flat pillows there were cigarette buts still left around the sink and there is no cable
The only thing I liked is the price and the location was reasonably close to my family

Everything was old and outdated. the bedding was old, the headboard fell off when I got on the bed. there was a spider in the bath tub, no large towels to take a shower. It was just very dated.
I like that it was really quiet not a lot of noise, the parking lot was not crowded or on a busy street.

No breakfast. Clean linens but pillows flat and very thin. Microwave has no glass plate and rusty. Air conditioner works well but TV could not get anything. Very small complimentary soap

Beware that vending machine, also the feminine customer service was a lot more friendly. I was super intimidated at first, but then I was able to feel more comfortable after shift change and almost booked a 2nd week of it wasn't for me being able to find a better deal
The place wasn't as sketchy as the the surroundings and even though I lost my key 4 times and had personal problems with booking, they still helped me a fair amount. I was unfamiliar with the area and there was a robbery down the street, however this place in particular was safe and I would've never been able to tell if it wasn't for my trip to the 711 down the street .
