How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe man at the front desk that was there all 3 days of my stay was genuinely caring and friendly. He was very accommodating with my small dog, as well. My kids had a wonderful time in the pool. Lovely lush green lawn in the front and we loved the blue lighting at night. Breakfast in this Alliance hotel was far better than at the Wyndham in Casper, Wyoming.
On our room door there are 4 teeth in the locking mechanism. The bottom "tooth" may need some lubricant as it was sticking a lot, to one point where we thought we were locked in our room. Also, the outer door to the parking lot nearest the pool was never locked, but that could be just company policy. I just assumed it would have been locked.

Please renew the air conditioner. Too old and I couldn't sleep with the loud noise so I turned it off. Was cool outside due to the storm. So I slept well.

Verified reviewI’ll be honest—I was hesitant about booking the Alliance Inn at first. It’s affiliated with Howard Johnson, and let’s be real, HoJo’s don’t always have the shiniest track records. However, the Alliance Inn was a pleasant surprise-nicely remodeled, super clean and comfy. The room felt fresh, well-maintained, and overall exceeded my expectations. That said… there are a LOT of rules. Like, a LOT. I didn’t have this many growing up! Between the signs, policies, and posted reminders, I felt like I was on a field trip with a particularly intense chaperone. There were signs banning alcoholic beverages in guest rooms, no drinks at all allowed at the pool, food rationing reminders in the breakfast area, and even a laminated pricing sheet in the room detailing how much you’d owe if a towel, pillow, or trashcan went missing. I felt personally responsible for every washcloth like it was government-issued. And breakfast? We were being watched to make sure we didn’t take too much food—like I was one biscuit away from a write-up. And the check-in process? Felt like I was applying for security clearance. We were asked a dozen questions: Who were we visiting? Were they family? Would they be coming to the hotel? Would they be swimming? I half expected a lie detector test. When we mentioned that we might have local family stop by, we were told it’d be an additional $5 per guest—even just to visit. To keep things simple, we asked to change our reservation from two people to four. Same two-queen room we had already booked. At first, we were told that four people weren’t allowed in that room. When I asked why not, especially if we were willing to pay extra, the manager eventually agreed to let it happen—but only after a $20 upcharge. It felt like we were negotiating international peace terms. To summarize, overall the hotel was nice and clean. Just be prepared to follow more guidelines than you did at your grandma’s house.
The sheer number of rules felt over the top—signs everywhere, restrictions on guests, no adult beverages allowed in the guest rooms, and a weird amount of supervision during breakfast and at the pool. It made the stay feel a bit more stressful than relaxing. It was clean and quiet, sure, but I came to relax, not reenact a chaperoned field trip.
