How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewSo many things make these chalets a great place to stay - Hot Tub, FirePit, lovely gardens, BBQ, full catering facilities including comfortable beds, easy and free parking, 5/10 minute walk to Evergreen centre with lots of bars and restraurants. Lisa and Tommy are welcoming and friendly and the work and effort they put into the property as owners is obvious to see.

I thought the price was alittle high but it was summer in Evergreen.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. I think you will see that our pricing is very competitive for accommodations in Evergreen especially considering our location just a 1/2 mile from historic downtown and Evergreen lake. Unfortunately with so little lodging in Evergreen and it being the popular summer season, prices are a bit higher.

Verified reviewI enjoyed having amenities inside the room such as a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker (w/coffee, tea, etc.), and TV. It was a nice convenience.
Considering the room rates, a complimentary basic continental breakfast would have been a nice touch. Also, since I was dressing for a wedding on Saturday, a full length mirror would have been appreciated. My son-in-law went to Walmart and purchased one for me which I left in the room for future guests.

It's a matter of the decor of the particular room. We will keep the mirror you left us and make it available to any guests in a room without a full length mirror if they want one.

Verified reviewIt was close to town and main roads. The had all the necessary items for cooking. Loved the arrangement and deck. The gas fireplace was warm and cozy and heated the whole apt.
We like fresh towels ea morning. Not enough wash clothes. No washer/dryer.

Verified reviewI LOVE this place! SUPER cute! It was like being in an apartment. It had a separate bedroom with a living room and full kitchen. Only a 1/2 mile from downtown. The hosts were very nice. I will definitely be coming back.

The water didn't taste good. Having a bottled water would have been nice.

Verified reviewI loved that the doors had unique entry codes so that we didn't have to remember to carry room card keys on us. The fireplace heaters were great! It was a very quiet and comfortable stay.
The only thing we wish was different was that we have two medium/large dogs and the space to walk them just isn't enough to satisfy the walks they're used to, so we did have to walk them across the street and down to the lake house, but that's not something they can change, just as a note for future guests.

We should have mentioned when walking your dogs that you can continue through our property next door to the county offices and past there to the library to get them some more exercise, but walking them by the lake is much prettier. The room that I had was just ok. Very low ceiling and tiny bathroom. The room must have been originally a basement.

We are surprised about your room comments since we do note in the room description that some ceiling areas are lower and the pictures do show the bathroom accurately so there really shouldn't have been any surprise there. Not sure why you think the room was originally a basement, it was actually originally built as a doctor's private practice office within their main home. It would appear you would be more comfortable in a traditional hotel type setting as opposed to our unique lodge accommodations.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for our purposes. Our patio was great for hanging out in between our activities. Grounds of the establishment very well taken care of.
Bed a little too high for needing to get up during the night. Mattress needing to be replaced soon, we rolled into each other. Small convenience had utensils but no bowls or plates.

We are surprised about your comment regarding the bed since it is clearly shown to be a lofted 4 poster bed with steps to get up to it. Also the mattress is less than a year old and we've had nothing but compliments as to how comfortable it is. We don't provide bowls or plates for that room because there is no way to wash them other than the bathroom sink. The room is setup for guests who do not need a full kitchen and will be taking their meals out at one of our wonderful restaurants.

Verified reviewWe loved every bit of our stay at Alpen Way Chalet and will return! My daughter and I spent an evening here when we were in the area for a concert at Red Rocks. It's just a short drive and in the opposite direction of most of the traffic following the show. The beds, bathrooms, amenities were cozy and comfortable. The staff is kind and generous, and the chickens are cute. We had a lovely deck and gorgeous view from our room and wish we'd had more time to spend there. We will be back!
