How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Dear Wilson, While it was nice to host you, we are distressed that you did not enjoy your stay. As far as the pool not in order, it says right on the website that the pool is closed due to maintenance. If you ran out of toilet paper, you could have asked the front desk for a roll and they would have given you a roll of toilet paper. There is a walking path right across the street that you can take a walk-on. The front desk gentleman was probably busy with guest and he got to it when he was available. Verified reviewClarify that pool and hot tube are in disrepair, fact to neglect that in booking. Then the fact that couldn't get a refund couse we mentioned pool and the owner or clerk put on paper no refund. Not knowing at that time the pool was broken and we were forced to stay there never agin terrible I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there ever especially for the cost way to much for nothing seriously nothing 😕

Verified reviewThe hotel was very quiet so that was nice, no one bothered you. The staff were decent while checking in but very friendly checking out. The location was in a fair spot but cloudve been better. All in all it was decent to stay there but probably would choose better next time.
The room didn't look clean. The carpet was dirty and garbage was under the beds. The pool wasn't open and the ice machine was broken.

The room wasn’t vacuumed there was garbage under the nightstand and bed, as well as the bathroom sinks drain was not connected for some reason so it just fell on the floor, bed and pillows had stains I hope they were washed but they need bleach for sure.

We were just needing a place to sleep on our way through town and booked last minute for an 11pm arrival. We couldn't stay - the hotel and room smelled terrible and the bedding was soiled. They don't even offer pillowcases on their old dirty pillows, just a worn, dirty sham I wouldn't touch, let alone sleep on. We ended up walking out and having to find and pay for another hotel late at night. Booking.com should not offer this location and we should not have to pay for the full night to cancel when the room was too smelly and dirty to use. They also required a CASH damage deposit, even though they had our credit card info through the booking, which seemed very shady (We did get the cash back). We are waiting to hear back from booking.com customer service on making this right.

Scary location, seemed unsafe. Dirty room, had to switch because of crumbs on bedsheets. New room reeked of smoke. Hairs on toilet seat. Awful pillows. Absolute worst night's sleep. If it wasn't 2am there's no way we would've stayed.

Verified reviewNot really much I liked. Free Wi-Fi and the closeness of it to where I was working was great.
The staff-front desk guy at check-in was nice but counted my cash deposit for incidentals about 12 times. The front desk lady at check-out was terrible, I checked in at almost midnight and drove from Wisconsin then worked all day and night, we didn’t get out for the room until 11:15am-the lady said to me “Check out is at 11am.” I apologized and my step-son said “It be nice if there was an alarm clock in the room.” (MOST hotels have alarm clocks) This rude lady said back to him “Well you have a phone don’t you?” LIKE WHAT-how rude! She proceeded to slam drawers as she was getting my cash deposit back to me. Very unpleasant- plus I had to wait 10 minutes for her to even come check me out because there was NO ONE anywhere to be found! Price was not worth the room which had a funny, gross smell. No alarm clock, beds were hard, pillows flatter than pancakes. I slept on top of the sheets/comforter. Will not stay here again if I’m ever in Minnesota again…. No wonder the rating is so bad…

It was 11:45 when you checked out, you stated that you tried but you overslept The alarm clocks are taken by guests, We do apologize for this inconvenience. Things get busy at the Front desk as people do not check out on time so therefore front desk needs to go check the rooms after 11 am on this situation to see if they are extending their stay or they are checking out, so therefore there is not always someone at the desk.
